Our niece was born about 15 minutes ago - mom and baby are doing great, and we are headed to Atlanta to meet her this weekend. H and I are really excited!
Question - we are going to bring a little stuffed animal or something for the baby, but is there something that would be good to bring for my SIL too? I think the family in town is handling food for awhile, so anything else?
Re: AW: I am an aunt!
Congratulations Aunt!!!
The things my sister most appreciated when her baby was born were simple. Helping around the house with laundry, dishes, some light cleaning. She had a c-section and couldn't get around much those first few weeks and recovery from a vaginal birth isn't a piece a cake either.
If you wanted to bring a gift, maybe do some research for a place near them that does take out or delivery of food? That way, once all the food being brought in stops, they can still get themselves some dinner without having to cook
Honestly, the best thing anyone brought me was Starbucks instant coffee packets. I was so sleep deprived yet had zero time to make coffee. I loved just throwing water in the microwave then mixing in a packet and having a gourmet coffee.
Other things that were helpful. Seriously, nipple cream (lanolin) if she's breastfeeding, wine or beer, quick and easy snacks to grab like granola bars, fruit already washed/cut and separated into small baggies.
I also just wanted a healthy meal. So many people give you heavy things like pastas and casseroles. My BFF brought me a huge chef salad that I ate for lunch for a few days. It was a very welcomed break to the heavy food.

I know most people spend a lot of time in the house/on the couch. DO they have netflix? Maybe a 1 or 2 month subscription that.
Congrats! Being an aunt is awesome!
When I was on maternity leave gift cards for places that would deliver while DH was at work and Netflix were my favorite. Also, my in-laws watched dd for about 30 mins so we could run to Target together.
