    1. How MM was your weekend? It was ok- groceries ($185), Target ($110, but we'll be returning $60 of it today- DD#1's winter coat was 20% off)

    2. Any progress towards goals? Yes- $2,500 each to our Roth IRA accounts. We'll do the second deposit in December of $3,000 each and then move to monthly withdrawals for 2017. Also, the bathroom is all grouted! We'll spend this coming weekend doing some final clean up, paint touch up, and caulking. DH is scheduling the fixture install for next week when he's home on a mini fall break. After that it's just lights, mirror, towel bars, curtain rod. Can't wait to get this done.

    3. Fall is here! What do you like about it? Dislike? Do you decorate? I really like fall- cooler weather, pretty foliage, mums, pumpkins, and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. We have some decorations and usually plant mums, carve pumpkins for the front porch.

    1. It was good! $22 Gas, $30 Spent the last of our vacay money at the Big E fair on Saturday, $104 grocery shopping

    2. We have $830 to transfer into our svgs/vacation accounts

    3. I love fall! It seems to have come quickly this year temperature-wise. I love the leaves changing color. I love mums, pumpkins, and Halloween. I love apples, apple cider, and apple cider donuts. I love fairs, and having fire pits in the backyard. Yes, I do decorate. I don't like that winter follows....it's mostly the cold temps and driving in snow that bothers me.

  • 1. It was OK.  We went to a party at the library on Friday.  H ordered our tickets online.  He accidentally got us VIP tickets for $45 each instead of general for $30 each.  I was not happy about paying $30 extra for no extra tax write off and no extra benefit (a souvenir glass is not a benefit to me).  But it was a great party and we are happy to support the library so all is well that ends well.

Saturday I paid $7 to park at my volunteer event.  H took our tube TV and broken dehumidifier in to the hard to recycle event.  It cost us $35 to recycle those items.  We have a tube TV dumping problem and when it costs $25 and a long wait in a line at a collection event I can see why some people are not motivated to do the right thing.  I made my annual donation at church, which was budgeted.

Sunday we needed a few things from Target but I didn't feel like making the trip there so I bought them online, about $25.  $10 on groceries at Aldi.

    2. Staying the course towards building savings.  I want October to be a low spend month and we got off on the right foot for that.

    3. I love cool but not cold weather, colorful leaves, and football and hockey starting.  Nothing to dislike!  Yes, I decorate.  Halloween is second to only Christmas for decorations in my house but this year I am taking it easy and just doing fall decorations (probably adding turkeys in Nov).  I leave in a few days for 2 weeks in Australia and I am trying to keep things around the house simple while I focus on getting everything ready for that trip.
  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good - nothing crazy. About $15 on desserts to bring to Rosh Hashana at my in-laws last night and about $70 treating friends to brunch.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Financial goals are chugging along in the usual way BUT we finally got the real green light on IVF (after we had the green light, then a yellow, repeat ad nauseum until you realize everything wrong with healthcare in the US) and started injectables yesterday! Because I'm a baby and self-injecting sends my anxiety through the roof my husband is kind enough to do it for me even though he hates it too. Bad side is I have to get up super early so he can do it before he leaves for work, but the upside is that I was a rockstar of productivity this morning since I had so much extra time before I had to leave for work!

    3. Fall is here! What do you like about it? Dislike? Do you decorate? I love everything about fall. I'm a New England girl through and through. I like the brisk air, and leaves, and cozy sweaters with boots, and football and it's just the perfect season. If there was a place on earth that had fall year round I would move there immediately. I decorate but I don't go too crazy. A couple pumpkins and maybe a wreath.

  • @LillibetteV Shana Tovah to your ILs (and to you as well)!

@cbee817 Ughhhhh grouting is the WORST. I was so so glad to be done with grouting our bathroom. It's so much work.

    1. How MM was your weekend?

It was ok. $36 at the apple patch yesterday, but totally worth it for fresh apples and some fun flavors for pies and baked goods. We returned $50 of stuff at HD and bought $10 of stuff at Lowe's so I figure net win there? The only part that sucked about the weekend was new tires for the truck...$900 when it was all said and done because we had to get a camber kit. And these were the cheaper tires!

    2. Any progress towards goals?

I socked $1500 away in savings and hit a mini-goal of $5000. We're 20% of the way to reaching our goal!

    3. Fall is here! What do you like about it? Dislike? Do you decorate?

I don't think there's anything I can say I dislike about fall. I suppose maybe my flowers dying or going dormant. I LOVE my garden and need to find ways to add more fall bloomers I guess. I don't decorate much, I made a new fall wreath this year and I have a few small things I put out. I love the cooler weather, the drop in humidity, and the fact that I can go running outside or walk the dog without coming home covered in sweat. I LOVE wearing jeans and boots at this time of year!

  • 1. Not terrible but not great either. $60 on food and beer at Oktoberfest Friday, which was a blast! (I know $60 seems like a lot, but we're only DINKS for so much longer...) $13 or so on breakfast Saturday (McDonald's, because we had $60 worth of beer the night before...haha) $21 on dinner Saturday, $40 or so at Target for house supplies and a birthday gift (Cartwheel helped my savings here). $20 to church on Sunday, and $5 for 50/50 raffle tickets.

    2. Any progress towards goals? No, now that September is over I need to sit down and go through our August & September expenses. I usually do this monthly, but my brother's wedding was right at the start of September and life was crazy for a while so I put it off. But, September was a 3-paycheck month so although I'm dreading the August expense totals, September should be better.

I almost forgot, we finally sold my old car! So that's $725 that will go toward our new car payment. I'm so happy this is finally taken care of.

    3. Fall is here! What do you like about it? Dislike? Do you decorate? Although I love summer, I love the crisp air of fall, the colorful leaves, apple cider donuts, baking apple cake, handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, gutting pumpkins (I don't like the carving part lol). I also love our fall decorations. It's all so refreshing after a hot summer.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Better than I thought it would be.  $12 for lunch on Friday.  $105 grocery shopping at Winn Dixie.  It should have been more than that because we went to the NEW Trader Joe's.

There were none in my area and one just opened a week ago.  I was planning to go hog wild.  Except the line wrapped all the way around the left side and then back of the store.  Then weaved in and out through the produce area displays at the end.  Completely insane.  You'd think it was Christmas Eve at a Toys R Us.  I'm going to wait a couple weeks.  Let the fervor die down a bit. And go during the week instead of the weekend.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

Moved $1800 from my savings to my HELOC.  I'd had it in "limbo" until I was done with my closing.  Revamped and reworked my budget.  A few large expenses coming down the pike.

    3. Fall is here! What do you like about it? Dislike? Do you decorate?

Fall is my favorite season.  I think it is mainly just the relief that the torturous heat of summer is over.  I can spend time outside again.  We slept with the A/C turned off on Friday night!!!  (Okay, not Sat. or Sun. night, but it's a start).  The weather is just so great and so comfortable.  And there is an excitement in the air because holidays are around the corner.  I love apple cider and pumpkin stuff.  I love football (Saints finally won a game yesterday, miraculous though it was).  I don't really decorate for any holiday/season.  Other than putting up an occasional wreath and a Christmas tree.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not too bad. Friday I spent $20 at the grocery store. Saturday I spent $45 at Bath and Body Works on fall and winter soaps,  candles, air fresheners, and an adorable Halloween night light plug in (total splurge...), and $20 on gas. Yesterday I didn't leave the house so $0!

    2. Any progress towards goals? Just the usual. Plugging away at my student loans and a 0% interest credit card. The CC should be paid off next month and my SL will be paid off in February!

    3. Fall is here! What do you like about it? Dislike? Do you decorate? Fall is my absolute favorite season! Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love the weather. Plus everything apple.. I love apples/apple desserts. I do decorate but I need to seriously revamp all my decorations, they're all cheap and not really matching which bothers me.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Just $100 on groceries and $60 for house stuff from Menards.  We were good and sucked it up both Friday and Saturday night and just went home to eat even though it would have been much easier to just grab something while we were in town.

    2. Any progress towards goals?
Put $750 toward our Hawaii savings.

    3. Fall is here! What do you like about it? Dislike? Do you decorate?

I love everything about fall.  I live in a rural area and love that the farmers are in the fields.  The smell of them harvesting, riding in the combine with my dad and in the tractor with my mom, the thrill and rush of helping them out, sleeping to the sound of the corn dryer.
Non-farm related.  I love decorating for Fall.  I think by far my favorite thing is that there are holidays that aren't gift related.  Halloween is just some candy and Thanksgiving is just food.  I love seeing family with zero requirements of gifts.
Also love the scents this time of year, of course pumpkin spice anything, and leggings.

  • @labro - grouting is the worst! I have my left hand all bandaged up from the dog bite, so I couldn't even help. DH did a great job though-I felt so bad I couldn't help  :(

  • 1) ours wasn't too bad - $100 on groceries, and pretty much everything else was expensed (woot)

    2) We added $400 to savings, and I forgot about a bunch of reimbursable expenses H had, so when the reimbursement came 3 weeks later it was like a happy surprise.  Honestly I have to figure out a better reimbursement strategy though.  I'm going to make a separate post about this.

    3) I love fall because we get a break from the heat, I like apple and pumpkin spice stuff, and it's my birthday!  I'm a late October baby, so I have a tradition of carving the Halloween pumpkins on my birthday each year.

  • 1. Spendy. We really seem to be blowing through a lot of money recently, as in about the last month. We were fine before we went on vacation, but our numbers have been crazy since we got back. I really have to sit down and figure out what's going on, but I'm spending so much time on a work project. I'll figure it out my mid-month. $35 at amazon, $40 at aldi, $158 grocery store, $97 GNC.

    2. Non-pay week, no progress.

    3. I LOVE fall. Everything about it. I love the colors, the weather, the foods, absolutely everything. I have very few decorations, though. Just a wooden pumpkin that goes on the front door.
  • 1. Spendy, but expected. We spent $105 on groceries, $30 to reload our coffee gift card for the month (helps us keep our coffee spending in check), $150 for DD1's preschool classes, and $20 on eating out.

    2. Not a pay week for me too. I don't usually transfer money to savings until the end of the month, but I think with my next paycheck I'll transfer it right away so it's more visually unavailable for spending.

    3. I love fall mostly for the weather. We live in southern CA, but I really don't like the heat. Also, my bday is on October 10! We don't really have any fall decorations because we don't currently have the room to store them during the rest of the year.
  • Hi guys! Back home from the long work trip and should be around again now.

    1. It was spendy. We went to a wedding and got a couple of meals out after a long time apart. I had already made most of the wedding purchases, so that wasn't too bad.

    2. I'll be adding some money to savings tonight.

    3. I also love everything about fall! Wonderful weather, good food, summer is over, Halloween, it's just my favorite time.
