And then there's the 12th Amendment
If neither or none of the POTUS candidates get the needed 270 votes to win in the electoral college, the U.S. House of Representatives determines the president by votes. They take the top three candidates by electoral votes and use that as their selection pool.
So, technically if you detest Trump and Hillary, voting for ANY third party makes sense. The third party doesn't have to win, they just have to prevent HillRump from getting the 270 needed.
Just another case to see that voting third party isn't tossing a vote away.

Would it even be possible for BOTH candidates to stay under 270 when you take into account the traditionally red and blue states toeing the party line?
I'm sorry. No one ever visits the P&CE Board. And, as politics heavily influences finances and fiscal things, maybe it is sort of appropriate??? I did debate on whether or not to put it here.
I'll keep your opinion in mind from now on because I don't think you are incorrect for having it.
Sorry!
I hear you. And, FYI: it wasn't my intent to "spam" as a PP suggested. We should keep MM for MM, and if there is a political thing tied to MM then discuss it - such as Trump's Taxes.
I was simply seeking discussion. So everybody - we're nice on P&CE too!
Eh, really doesn't bother me. I've been a regular on here for quite some time, and honestly it stays pretty PG as far as political discussions go.
I think it's just mostly because we're such a close knit group. I mean really, we chat about all of our finances. That's a pretty private thing for most people.
To me it's the same as how we have at least one travel thread a week because majority of us like to travel, or we'll have some random chatter here and there.
That's what makes this board so awesome. We can just chit chat and it takes a lot to get us riled up.

Honestly, I'm just happy there's activity. The rest of TN is a ghost town and this is one of the few places I can get to from work without using my phone.
