So who's working today and who has the day off?
Re: Happy Columbus Day!
H and I are both working today...such a bummer!!
Does anyone live in an area where they recognize this day as Native American Day instead? I grew up mostly on the East Coast but went to college in the Midwest and that was the first time I had ever heard of it as a replacement for Columbus Day.
@labro I vaguely recall hearing about the day being recognized at Native American Day. I've lived in NY my entire life so it's always been Columbus day but I think it was a few years ago I heard it called Native American Day by some.
H and I call it Adverse Possession Day.
Hah! As if. We get few holidays at my work. Six to be exact and today is not one of them, lol.
This brought back a bad memory. There was a tropical storm that hit my area about 5-6 years ago. No evacuations, at least in our area, but power was out for a week. And the bank who held my car loan at the time was closed that entire time also. My car payment was due during this week. I went in the second day they were re-opened to pay it.
They still charged me a $25 late fee. I fought them on it and they were just "it doesn't matter we were closed, it was late, we won't do anything". Talk about a bunch of callous jerks. Especially for a local credit union.
I hope they enjoyed their 25 bucks. I went with a different bank for my next car loan, just because I was so incensed about that incident. It wasn't even the money, it was the turning their backs on their customers during a state of emergency.
@smetter04, hopefully your experience is substantially better than mine was. I suspect it will be. Most banks aren't utterly ridiculous like that when what a customer is asking for is not unreasonable.
I hate working these holidays because everyone thinks we're closed, so it's usually pretty slow. So far that trend has continued.

Yeah, on my way to work traffic was worse than usual. And I saw school buses. Those stupid things are always like moths to my flame.
