Weekend/Halloween Plans?!

Re: Weekend/Halloween Plans?!

  • edited November 2016

Friday- Dog is getting groomed, so Wendy's and Kohls while we wait

Sunday- Probably picking up a bunch of leaves, cleaning, laundry, putting away more summer stuff

Monday- H works late so my sister will hopefully be coming over to give out candy with me

  • Friday- H is on his way home from Fort Worth now. I have a class at the gym tonight, after that no plans.

Saturday- I'm going up to the city for race packet pickup then going out to find my Halloween costume for work. It shouldn't take me long, but I'm not much of a Halloween lover, so it's annoying to me.

Sunday- Hot Chocolate 5k with my cousin, my brother, and my brother's girlfriend. Then lunch with my uncles, and likely staying in the city for Game 5!

Monday- Halloween party at work, then I purposely booked a class at the gym Monday night so I didn't have to buy Halloween candy. I don't need that stuff sitting around the house sabotaging all of my hard work.
  • Friday- wfh, get DD#1 off the school bus, chicken taco night with a movie for the girls
Saturday- bathroom work, DH is going to the Sabres game with his dad, grocery shop, clean the house
Sunday- laundry, meal prep, relax, sew some pillows shams for Christmas gifts
Monday- girls have Halloween parties at school, trick-or-treating starts around 5:30. My parents are going to pass out candy for us so we can take the girls around the neighborhood. DD#1 is sleeping beauty in the blue dress, DD#2 is Ariel in the pink dress when she's a human, and both were made by my mom!

This weekend is the American Royal (which is essentially the "World Series" of BBQ).  This morning H is headed to a private tasting at Jack Stack, which is a high end local chain and then he has a colleague who is competing so he's spending the day helping him cook and then tonight his work has a tent/party there.  I'll DD because yesterday he signed the final publishing agreement on his first book, and we celebrated last night, so I'm done drinking for the weekend!

No plans Saturday, and then Sunday I'm manning a signup table at church for volunteers to make food for a Thanksgiving dinner being held at the nonprofit where I'm on the board.

As for Halloween, not many kids in our neighborhood so we'll leave the porch light off, but I do think I'll make a special basket for our friends' next door's almost three year old.  I remember as a little kid our neighbors across the cul de sac always having something extra for my brother and me.  :)

ETA:  Oh and I'm too cheap to dress up, but I will stop by the hospital at some point on Monday.  Such a cute and fun day with all the kids dressed up!  Spirit Halloween even brings boatloads of costumes and dress up items to give to kids.  Those pop-up stores are pretty awesome and incredibly charitable!  They give us a portion of local sales which usually ends up being more than $25K a year!!

  • Tonight: My parents are picking the crops in my field, so DD and I will go ride with them as they finish up.  Then I need to run and grab groceries.
Tomorrow: Getting things done around the house and then we have a birthday party in the afternoon.  Then watching the Cubs game.
    Sunday: Church and zero plans.

Not much planned for the weekend, other than a lot of sleeping.  I've been running ragged all week and feel exhausted.  I just need some time to slow down and rest.

My H and I will either do nothing for Halloween or we'll walk over to our old neighborhood.  Nothing happens on my street but, on our old street, lots of the neighbors hang out on their porch passing out candy.  It's a nice time to socialize and catch up.

I love sock monkeys.  I have a sock monkey costume and a matching one for my dog.  She looks so cute in it!  But doesn't like to wear it (sigh), so I don't make her.  She doesn't even "protest", but her energy level drops and she looks a little downcast.

Edited to add:  My H has a huge, HUGE sweet tooth.  We bought a big bag of Halloween candy at Sam's a couple weeks ago.  He left it on the kitchen counter top.  Puh-leez.  It would not be safe there.  So I hid it.  The next evening, I go over to his desk.  There are six empty little wrappers, he's eating one little candy bar, and has three more unopened.  I (jokingly) side-eye him and say, "I see you found the candy."  Through a mouth full of chocolate he replies back, "Candy? I don't know what you're talking about."

  • Friday night - TBD. Either chores or being lazy depending on how I feel after work.

Saturday - EMBRYO TRANSFER DAY! Eeeeeek! I'm so freaking excited. Before our IUI I was nervous and had a second of "omg are we really doing this?" and now I feel like "!@#$ yea we are finally doing this!"

Sunday - lay around and watch football. Doctor's orders to take it easy all weekend.

Monday - handing out candy! I don't like dressing up, but I love seeing all the kiddos. Unfortunately we're on a main road and don't get a ton of kids, but that just means I get to spoil the ones that come! I tried to convince DH to become the full-size candy bar house this year since we get so few kids but he shot it down :(

YAY!!!  Good luck with that.  Sending "sticky baby" vibes.

I remember as a kid, the once in a great while you got a full-size candy bar, it felt like winning the lottery.  And word spread like wildfire through the neighborhood, lol.

  • I am so excited to be spending the weekend at home and with minimal plans.

Fri - Get in a quick workout and relax at home after work by watching lots of DVR.  Maybe get some laundry started.

Sat - Gym and clean up around the house.  Halloween party at a friend's house at  night.  For the first time in years I am phoning it in costume-wise.  I'll wear an orange sweater and spray my hair orange..maybe try to do a little more to make it a jack o lantern look.  Or I could just wear a Jason mask.  Not sure how lazy I'll be yet.

Sun - More relaxing and work around the house.  Spend a couple of hours on errands and visiting a friend in the neighborhood of the errands.

Mon - Like Mustard I'll be hiding from kids at the gym.  Our T-o-T is 5-7pm so it is pretty easy to avoid.
  • Friday - pizza night
Saturday/Sunday - my parents are coming to visit for the weekend.  No real plans, except we will be using our fire pit on Saturday night!
Monday - we don't get trick-or-treaters, but my H's office does an office-wide trick or treat thing for everybody's kids.  So we will make sure to buy some candy for that.
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • We're heading up to the mountains tonight for a wedding weekend in NH. Then our weddings are finally done! Hooray!

Monday night we'll hand out candy. We get a ton of kids. We're a safe neighborhood with sidewalks in a city with many bad neighborhoods, so they all truck in. I take the responsibility to hand out GOOD candy in plentiful quantities very seriously.
  • Tonight: I'm not feeling the greatest so I'll try to make it through the workday and then go home and pass out. I have a hunch it's a sinus infection and I'm exhausted. H may go to the hs football playoff game with my dad.

Tomorrow: church yard cleanup day, but if I'm not feeling well still, I may not go. My friend is having a small Halloween get-together in the evening, so we'll see how I feel tomorrow night. My costume is a pajama animal so at least it's comfy.

Sunday: church, random house things, trick or treat late afternoon into evening.
  • The weekend is pretty much over

Friday - DD stayed overnight with my parents so DH and I were able to go out on a much needed date night.

Saturday - Played our last wedding until December :)  DD's dance studio had a halloween party and we went to that.

Sunday - DD has been a little sick today so she's been resting and I'm hoping she's better tomorrow so she can go to school.  We carved pumpkins this afternoon.
  • @LillibetteV - hope the transfer went well!  GL and keep us posted!
  • @LillibetteV- that's so awesome!  So are you basically pregnant now?  Sorry I don't know anything about IVF.

That's a good question and one I wish I had the answer to. I'll only be considered pregnant if the embryo implants which we won't know for another couple of weeks. Hopefully it will implant sometime this week and start growing. It's possible that we had naturally fertilized eggs in me before but they all failed to implant and so I got my period - there is just literally no way to know. The two week wait is the same for IVF as it is for natural TTC. Well, almost the same - due to the lovely progesterone in oil shots my husband sticks in my butt every night I've had nausea and swollen boobs since before the embryo was even put in! So much for symptom spotting....
  • @LillibetteV- interesting.  I had no idea you had to put the progesterone in that end :)  I'm so excited for you though.  TTC for 2 years and finally progress.  5 months of TTC is driving me nuts.  Is IVF expensive for you?
  • @vlagrl35 yea my clinic is one that still insists on shots of progesterone, some clinics use oral meds or suppositories, but my doctor finds that the shots are a better delivery method even if it is less patient friendly.  Thankfully I live in Massachusetts which is one of 15 states that mandates fertility treatments be covered by private insurers so I'm only paying deductible and co-pays. Our entire journey to date has cost about $2k (spread over a year which is when we started testing and treatment). Compared to the $15k it would be out of pocked just for IVF treatment I'm very lucky.
