Halloween

How was everyone's Halloween? Any pics to share? Any fun stories?

Re: Halloween

My sister and I gave out candy at my house because H worked late so she cooked me dinner and we hung out. We had about 21 kids between 6-8pm or so and a truck/trailer with Halloween lights on it came and dropped off a bunch of kids which I thought that was cool!  Luckily there were no egging's or mischief that happened (I always worry about that)
  • I didn't get home until after 6 but we turned the light on between then and heading out for our nightly walk at 7.  We had our two next door neightbor kids who we made special baskets for with window clings, Halloween socks, and healthy snacks.  Otherwise we only had one kiddo.  Not going to lie, walking the streets last night made me sad.  This whole infertility thing is really, really hard.

  • I was home since I'm off work (between jobs) this week and we only had one trick of treater.  Which is what I expected.  There are only 6 houses on our street, and only 1 kid.  Just a few houses up on the main road we are off is a really big neighborhood so there is no reason to go down my street.  I prepared just in case though so we have LOTS of candy lying around ahhhh

Mine was good! We probably only had 15-20 trick or treaters which was disappointing. Next year I'll be giving out full sized candy bars because we get so few.

My sister brought my niece (8 months) over and my next door neighbors brought their daughter (13 months) over to hang out and we watched the babies play! I got them both special goody bags because they can't have candy yet.

One little kid was so excited about my dog and could care less about the candy. He sat on porch and just kept petting and kissing the dog and it was so cute. The whole time I was thinking yep, that would be my child. His parents had to practically drag him away from the dog. I don't know how to add pictures but my dog was dressed as a taco.

On a somewhat MM note- a woman almost fell walking off my porch... So that made me think about my homeowners coverage for personal injury. Then I got scared about giving out candy. Next year I may just sit on the porch or at the end of the sidewalk so people don't walk up the steps.

    Edited because words are hard.

  • The little one and I went out for about 2 1/2 hours last night.  The wife was at work.  My feet are killing me, but he had a good time.  Refused to wear the costume we bought for him. :(

I actually joked about that with one house.  Our neighborhood is somewhat hilly and some of the houses have those basement garage things going on so the front door is almost essentially the second floor of the house and to me the steps are a lot smaller than they should be.

We live in a smaller older neighborhood with large lots and long driveways and I think a lot of the families with children drive to all the newer neighborhoods around us that have tons of houses closely packed in together. Suppose they get more bang for their buck candy-wise there!

We got about 10 trick-or-treaters, which was better than last year. I bought full-size candy bars to hand out this year because we get so few and I want to at least make it worth their while to come all the way up our driveway to the house.

My niece got to trick or treat for the first time this year! Cutest little lion ever!

OMG, love this!! She's so cute and the dog REALLY looks like a lion, I had to look at the pic for a minute!
  • @formerlyjessica490 LOL! We actually call Maddux a lion all the time because he has golden eyes and a pink nose instead of the typical black nose/brown eyes. I told my sister she absolutely had to find a lion mane for him to wear this year. He was a good sport about it too!
  • DD was a ladybug.  We just went across the street to the city building where people can sit and hand out their candy.  She got a few pieces, but she doesn't eat much candy yet.

We sat outside and handed out candy.  All of the in-laws came and handed it out with us.  It was a gorgeous night which is unusual for our area.  Usually everyone is bundled up.  We also had our dog outside with us and she was in heaven with all the attention from the kids.  Some of the kids even remembered our house because of our dog, which was cute.

  • Ours was fun- the girls had a good time and my parents passed out candy for us so we could take them. We went through about 10 small bags of candy which is pretty normal. Girls were done trick or treating around 7pm, lights out at 8pm.. works out well especially since it's a school night.

    She's adorable!

  • @labro, have you seen the Amazon commercial where the new parents put a lion's mane on their yellow lab?  That dog in the commercial looks just like the one in your pic.

If you haven't seen it, the commercial starts with their baby crying when she first meets the dog.  But the baby has a stuffed lion she loves.  So the H has the idea to put a lion's mane on their dog so the baby is less scared.  Of course, when the dog walks back up to the baby with the mane on, the baby smiles and reaches her little hand out to grab his nose.

And your niece is absolutely darling!  There is just something about babies and toddlers in costumes that is the cutest ever.

  • @short+sassy No I haven't seen that but that sounds just like my sister's dog! He and the baby are the best of friends now that she's older!

I haven't been on lately.  Between having issues logging on to this site and being stressed over TTC I haven't visited.  Here is a photo of DD as Ariel.  I've just decided to give up the OPKs and temping.  I feel so much better to release the stress.  It's not good for me.  I've let go and trusting god.  Enjoying being in the present moment.
