black friday/year end deals

Know of any good deals yet?  I see Target and Petsmart have started free shipping on everything and some BF ads are posted already.
Does anyone know if IKEA does anything?  I am going to buy one of their phone charging pads but may get it from ebay instead since it is cheaper there.  Or I could just wait if there is a better deal possibly coming with BF.

Re: black friday/year end deals

  • I don't participate much but we are in the market for a new 32 in flat screen in our bedroom.  I'm hoping we can find a good deal black friday.
  • I'll have to follow this. We aren't in the market for anything big but hopefully we can get a few Christmas gifts on sale.
  • I haven't really seen so far, other than looking at Costco's holiday flier.  They had some good deals on TVs if you're in the market for one.

We want to get MIL a Kindle, so I'm guessing Amazon will be running sales on those.
  • We got the girls kids kindles- buy 1, get 1 50% off. They'll be excited for them and it's all ready to go for kids.

Everyone else is getting donations to the ACLU. If they an issue with it, they can take it up with me.
Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • I haven't seen anything that jumps out yet, but Stride Rite usually does a $14.99 shoe sale. So I'll probably get a few sizes in the next size up for DD.  They've been worth the extra money even though she outgrows them so quickly.

Costco irritated me with their holiday flier.  Some items are on special this week.  Some items are on special next week.  Some items are only on special TG and BF.  Yes, Costco, I'm sure you would love for me to shop at your store every week.  But I usually don't, so now I just won't buy any of your specials for the week I don't go.  A pointless lose-lose for everyone.

I definitely need to buy appliances for my most current duplex and have my eye out for an especially stellar deal.  But I usually buy used, so it has to be within around $200 of that price range (per appliance) or it just isn't worth it.

It seems like it is too early for BF, but I guess it isn't.  I'll probably start looking for "leaked" ads next week.

It sounds like Target may have a slightly better approach than Costco.  I didn't read it very closely so I may be fuzzy on the details but I think that Target is giving early access to BF deals through cartwheel.  That is a good idea to give people a little more flexibility.

Love this!  I set up a monthly gift from H and I this morning.  I also sent a big stack of ESL books to an ICE detention center.  Maybe I'll create an Amazon wish list for that type of donation.

  • From what I remember last year, Ikea did like a week-long thing, or maybe it was just weekend-long, where there were different deals each day.
I usually buy clothes on Black Friday, but this year I'm 9 months pregnant, so I won't even know what's going to fit post-baby. Oh well.

How did you get the contact information to do this? I love this idea for holiday giving!

I have a friend from high school who is the volunteer coordinator at a location in Arizona.  If you'll PM your email address I can send you her contact information and the PDF with giving information.

    Will do! Thanks!
  • I ordered new running shoes from Kohls on BF for $30.  I hope they fit!  today I plan to buy a Cheesecake Factory gift card from their site for $25 to get two "slice of joy" cards redeemable for a free slice of cheesecake.  I hope there aren't too many strings attached to those cards but it should be a good deal.

Thanks for the intel!  I might take advantage of that as well.  I like the Cheesecake Factory.
  • I ended up doing some shopping. I got 20% off, plus 10% ebates and free shipping at Kohls for a new Shark hand vac for my ILs. I actually saw a cheaper, less powerful model at Lowe's over the weekend but this ended up being only $11 more expensive so I figure it was worth it.

I shopped on Black Friday just to get out of the house. We went around 11 and hardly anyone was out! I guess everyone did their shopping Thursday night/early Friday morning and then went out again later in the day. My MIL and I visited a local used/new bookstore that I worked at it in high school and college and bought some used books for my niece and nephew, and I got 30% off of two new hardcovers. Sure I probably could've gotten this stuff for less on Amazon but I'd rather shop at this place.

I also got small gifts for my SILs on sale at another local boutique.
  • We went to an outlet mall during our weekend away in Wisconsin Dells, so I ended up grabbing some stuff.
Underarmour had 40% off everything, including clearance.  I got myself a new pair of cold gear running pants I can wear with a bit of a belly and a top for Hawaii and running this summer. Got H a pair of cold gear pants, compression top, and an all-season long sleeve.  All for running in our crappy northern IL winters.
Carters had some sales going on so I spent $21 on 6 outfits for DD, and $12 on 4 pairs of thick tights for under dresses.  Woot!
Then grabbed a new outfit at Old Navy for $26, including cute boots. :-)

Now cyber Monday shopping is a whole different story.  I always plan for doing some stock up shopping for the year.  So I got on this morning and ordered DD Stride Rite shoes for the next year, and myself some maternity necessities that didn't fare too well from DD's pregnancy.  As well as a Snapfish order for Christmas cards, some prints, and a photo book of 2015 I made months ago but was waiting for a good enough sale to order it.
