Well, I'm working today.....sorta. It's more like standing the night watch in a closed museum. There's a few random people online, but nobody really doing anything.
Re: Happy Friday!
We are hoping to get Xmas lights up outside our house tomorrow. The high is 60 so we got to take advantage of it.
We haven't seen any black friday deals we're interested in. The wife and I were looking at a tv for the living room. Hate how you can't find a dumb tv anymore.
I went crazy with Black Friday appliance deals. Spent over $4,000, ugh. BUT, it's all for our new duplex and I needed appliances for both units anyway.
For that price I got 2 washer/dryer sets, 2 stoves, 2 fridges, and 4 ac/heat window units.
Originally I was going to buy all/most of the appliances used, but the deals were so good I could buy new for only $100-$150 more (per item) for the kitchen appliances. They look a lot nicer and have much longer warranties.
One of the stoves we bought is nicer than the one we have at home. So we are going to switch it out. The new one has a 5th burner in the middle. My H, the cook in the family, is super excited about that. Though it is stainless steel, which doesn't match our other white appliances, but we don't care.
I also spent $50 to get three new sweaters and a pair of shoes. The shoes replace a pair I wear all the time, but are now in bad shape.
I also spent $100 in Home Depot gift cards and $50 in Taco Bell gift cards, but got $32 back in Plenti points. I know I can use the Plenti points at Rite Aid, but am wondering if I can use them at Exxon (Plenti partner). That would be extra sweet.
As an IT person, I'm not against the smart features, I just think they're better implemented in a standalone box. It won't be long before the built-in apps can't be updated and then you're left with something that at best just doesn't work (in terms of the apps) and at worst becomes a network security issue (I know, nobody cares).
So far the wife has nixed the tv idea even though she was the one who wanted it. The good thing is it looks like the prices are normal prices since the 40" TVs aren't sought after as black Friday deals.
