1. How MM was your weekend?
2. Any progress towards goals?
3. Are you looking forward to anything in March?
Re: Monday Accountability
1. $62 Dog Grooming, $40 Lowe's, $20+ returned something to Kohls, H bought a new car this weekend! We are turning in the lease.
2. Nothing yet, we get paid this week. But we paid for H's car down payment from our savings and finished our tax return and we are getting back $1100 from fed and state so that's a plus.
3. I will be getting a bonus paid at work this month and we have 1 extra paycheck. We will be paying off a few things this month so that's good. I hope to get a lot of painting done in the house and keep saving more $. We have a Jack and Jill this weekend so that will be fun.
Saturday we went out to breakfast with a Groupon we had previously bought. Our friends paid the balance and tip so no additional money from our pocket. We spent $2 on parking and $3.50 on coffee while out window shopping. We ate leftovers for dinner while they went out.
Sunday $35 on groceries and then our friends left and H and I went out to dinner with a groupon that cost us an additional $25 but will provide leftovers for lunch today.
2. Still working on taxes, but making good progress. Our Feb credit card statement just closed and it is a big bill. I delayed a couple of purchases until today to help smooth out the monthly budget with that bill coming up.
3. My brother and his family are supposed to visit this month. We are looking forward to some fun aunt and uncle time.
1. How MM was your weekend? It was pricey, but expected: groceries ($168), new children's museum membership ($140), DH's car maintenance - 16K check ($215), gas ($26), breakfast before museum opened ($34)
2. Any progress towards goals? DH's 403b paperwork is submitted, should get the account set up email this week, then we'll submit the transfer and withdrawal forms. Taxes are done, but waiting to submit until I add $3K to my Roth IRA for 2016 in 2 weeks.
3. Are you looking forward to anything in March? Not much goes on in March for us- hopefully starting to see spring-like temps again.
2. I got paid today which means more money into savings!
3. We're supposed to file our taxes tomorrow or Wednesday so I guess in March I'm looking forward to our refund. Otherwise I'm looking forward to the continued progress of spring, watching my lawn come out of dormancy, and getting into the spring and summer yardcare regime. Oh and wearing sandals and maxis all the time.
2) It was a pay week so $350 went to our various savings accounts.
3) The drive in is opening in March, and we are looking forward to being able to go again. We bought some ticket packages during their Black Friday sale, so we can get in for free plus get a bunch of snacks for free 4 times this year. We tend to go on double feature nights, so we get two movies for the price of one.
1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good. $125 taking my mom out to dinner on Saturday night for her birthday (new restaurant down the street from us was amazing). $3 on an iced coffee to help drag my butt back to the office on Sunday. $35 on groceries and then $30 on Chinese delivery because my husband nagged and I was too tired from a crazy work week to say no. At least it will be my lunch for the next two days too!
2. Any progress towards goals? Yup! Husband got a major overtime check last week so we were able to put $2,750 into savings above and beyond our regular weekly transfer. I also worked a ridiculous amount of OT myself last week/weekend so we should have another big chunk to add to savings this week when I get paid.
3. Are you looking forward to anything in March? I just want spring time. It's also my birthday month so I like to plan a shopping day with all of the coupons/freebies that my favorite stores send me for my birthday. It feels indulgent, but I actually don't end up spending very much money at all. I actually have had my eye on a few things that I've waited on knowing that the coupons are coming hahaha.
2) We have stuck with our student loan repayment plan and paid off H's first loan this weekend. The next one is scheduled to be paid off in September.
3) Lots too look forward to in March! Our contractor is coming on Wednesday to give us a bid for our master bathroom remodel. I will also have most of my spring planting done (I did a bunch this weekend already). And we are headed to Spain the last week in March! I seriously can't wait.
1. How MM was your weekend? $30+ on happy hour/apps after work on Friday, we've been trying to spend less on alcohol, but justified this because we're giving up alcohol for lent starting this week and wanted to get a good brandy old fashioned in
. $54 on paczki (church fundraiser, that we helped make!) $20-30 on groceries Sunday & a bottle of wine that we should not have purchased in hindsight, but see justification above. Got $11.09 back on a rump roast that we returned because it had a hair on it in the package (ick) and it went bad before the best-by date, which is the date we had planned to cook it...
2. Any progress towards goals? No, neither financially or personal (paczki do not help the waistline. But they are oh-so-delicious!)
3. Are you looking forward to anything in March? Not really, it's just in the way of getting to April lol. Hopefully spring comes and stays! Although, I just remembered that we get 3 paychecks in March, which will be nice.
Random: I saw a king cake at the grocery store for the first time yesterday and thought of @hoffse and @short+sassy! I'm in the upper midwest so they are not commonly sold around here.
Also, thanks for the 3 paycheck reminder. I totally forgot about that. That will be nice!
2. Sent an extra $500 to the mortgage.
3. Warmer temps. The days in the 70s last week were such a tease!!
Had a 4-day weekend because of Mardi Gras. So today is my "Monday", lol.
1. How MM was your weekend?
Friday lunch for me and H was two free pizzas at Blaze, but spent $2 on a drink. $86 at the grocery store. Then, doh! Brace for it. $586 at Home Depot. But $190 of that was a hot water dispenser for the sink that I found on clearance. Mine broke a couple years ago and this seemed like a good opportunity for a replacement.
2. Any progress towards goals?
Great progress! On Friday, I deposited $700 into my business checking that will be used for cc payments.
We're all set for our new tenants. On BOTH sides of the new duplex! The tenant for the 2-bed unit is moving in today. She paid security and first month's on Monday...so that was a $1700 to my HELOC. The tenant for the 3-bed unit is moving in next Tuesday. Overall, this will be adding $1900/month (gross) to my income. I can finally start chipping away at debt instead of adding to it, lol.
I wish all my rental vacancies had been as easy as these two turned out to be.
3. Are you looking forward to anything in March?
H and I are going on an (almost) free trip to Lake Tahoe next week. We leave on Wed. and are coming back the following Monday. We love it there. It's so beautiful. My dream is to someday buy a cozy log cabinesque vacation home.
