Today was a very good day.
Big storms today so I got home early and found a $3,000 check from the IRS in my mailbox. It was part of an audit that occurred about 18 months ago for the 2012 tax year (that I won).
I had completely forgotten about this, but they ultimately adjusted in my favor. I spent about 2 hrs on the audit. Highest paying 2 hours of my life.
Anyway it showed up this afternoon with several years of back interest to boot.
Given that our contractor is on his way to give us an estimate for a master bath remodel, this could not have come at a better time.
Re: Today was a very good day.
Nice! Congrats! I didn't realize the IRS gave back interest. That's nice to hear especially since they sure love to charge it, lol.
My energy company sends me a check once a year for the interest on my deposit with them. It cracks me up because the interest they pay is WAY better than any bank. It's something like 4-5%.
We feel that way whenever our oil well royalty checks show up. We didn't know we had them when we bought the house until about a year ago when we got a letter about them, and requesting our info so they can send us the tax forms for it. We got close to $900 last fall and just got another one for like $250. Found money is so nice!
