What's everyone up to this weekend?
Re: Weekend plans
Probably have a movie night at home with the kiddos tonight.
Sat/Sun: I really need to get groceries, finish up Easter baskets, and get some work done. I hate bringing work home but next week is a short week.
As usual, my "Weekend Plans" post is after the fact, lol.
Friday turned out to be "Groupon Day". I had three Groupons expiring and used two at lunch. Luckily a take-out place that sells all kinds of grilled cheese sandwiches. For dinner, we used a Groupon at a Mexican restaurant and then had a Costco shopping trip.
Saturday, I did my p/t job, while my H went to install 5 a/c window units at one of our rental houses. The a/c part of the HVAC went out last weekend and we decided we went weren't going to fix or replace it.
Sunday was just relaxation and catching up on the DVR a bit. I also tidied up around the house a bit.
Friday night we went out for dinner with my parents to celebrate my mom quitting her job. She was really burnt out and her position had some serious work life balance issues so she's taking some time off to get her brain/life/body back in balance before going back to work again. My parents paid for dinner so we covered the tip with cash we had on hand. Spent $100 at Home Depot on some lawn care stuff I needed. It's amazing how fast a few bags of fertilizer adds up.
Saturday we stayed home all day. I took the dog for a run and then did yard work until late afternoon.
Sunday was another stay at home day. I worked on the Easter baskets I'm making for my nephew and nieces. Should hopefully finish them up tonight so I can get them in the mail.
Post weekend update:
Friday- wfh, got DD#1 off the bus, homemade pizza, movie night
Saturday- got the girls' haircuts ($14), grocery shop ($143), target ($45)
Sunday- laundry, clean, meal prep, relax.
Today- car in for yearly state inspection, oil change, tires rotated ($96), DH is home with the girls this week for spring break.
Sat - Easter shopping and lunch at at the city market. We probably spent around $50. Also used a Groupon to get some donuts to take home. A lot of laziness when we got home.
Sun - took the dog to the Camp Bow Wow party at the dog park. Free sandwiches for us and a fun time playing for her. More laziness at home that night and finally got around to doing some cleaning, laundry and a workout.
@Short+Sassy your Groupon story reminds me of the escape room episode of the Middle. The mom told the family they were going to the escape room because it was expiring that day. As we were watching it my H goes aren't escape rooms like so last year? A second later the mom on the show goes, I realize the escape room trend is over now but we have the Groupon and we're going! It is funny how those expiration dates can sneak up on you!
I've gotten to the point where I try to only buy Groupons when I'm planning to use it literally that day. But I still sometimes get suckered in when it's a place I know I go...and then I forget about it until it is about to expire.
I had actually never heard of "escape room type adventures" until I went to Boston last Sept. They were all over Groupon there. I'm sure they'll become "all the rage" here...in another 5+ years. That's about how long it takes for trends to arrive, lol.
