Healthy You Girls

I feel like I'm stuck in a rut food wise, I always eat the same things for breakfasts and lunches--I need some variety. Could you please share your breakfasts and lunches with me?  Lunch is the area that is really in need of variety.

I usually have a packet of instant oatmeal and a piece of fruit for breakfast. Lunch is usually turkey and mustard on a wheat pita, veggies and dip and maybe a yougert or a piece of fruit.

Re: Healthy You Girls

  • I'm a creature of habit, so I may not be of much help.  My steady, never-waivering daily routine is comforting to me. Smile

Breakfast is a Fruit & Nut Granola Bar or a whole wheat bagel with lite cream cheese.  Sometimes OJ or grapefruit juice, too.  And on days I really need a boost, it's an eggbeater and veggie wrap with swiss.

I don't really do lunch, rather I have small snacks throughout the day to keep me occupied and full.  My stockpile at work includes yogurt, cheese on wheat crackers (which I just found out are really not all that good for you), apples, bananas, dried fruit, nuts and granola.  And tootsie pops for the sweet cravings.

  • I
m not a big breakfast person. I've done the oatmeal thing.. yogurt.. fruit.. cereal... but for lunch.. I'm all about premade stuff.

You know all the commercials for nurtisystem and that stuff.. well you can do the same thing at your grocery store. most of the frozen entrees are aroudn 300 calories or so. I like the WW bistro.. in the red box also lean cuisine. lately I've been on a Nissin kick or ramen noodles. Al of those around aroudn 200 or so calories. just add some fruit or salad to round it out. my favorite has been the hot and spicy shrimp (cups) and they have pasta cafe now too.I really like the poblano one and the chipotle one. yeah.. I"m a carb girl. i tried the miso soup one, not impressed, but it was different. i ussally then have some applesause or jello or  a pudding cup. Fruit periodically through the day. I"m also a big milk drinking so i tend to have that with my lunch.

  • Lunch: do you eat regular bread? you could do a wrap instead, they come in a myriad of different flavors now. if you have time you could make the filling the night before, like a thai chicken wrap. or you could do a california wrap, with chicken or turkey and avocado, tomato, maybe bacon. egg salad or tuna nicoise/tuna salad. I love to do just a green salad with tuna or chicken on it with veggies and annie's naturals asian sesame dressing (it's addicting).

ETA: forgot to include my insane love for all things Kashi - they make frozen meals that I take for lunch all the time that are sooooo good. there's regular ones, veg ones, and even pockets - the turkey fiesta is fantastic! I'll do a lean cuisine once in a while too, the spa meals because I like to feign healthy eating ; )

Breakfast: if you want a spin on oatmeal you can do irish oatmeal or oatmeal with fruit baked in; baked oatmeal is on my list of recipes to try. I made rice pudding earlier this week and have been eating that and a pb banana. I do luna sunrise bars too. not knowing what your style of eating/schedule is like, that's all I have so far! good luck!
