Beer Pong - back to your college days...

This is a spin off of the Jon and Kate post, but not really related

DH's frat played "beer pong" like ping pong with 4 cups of beer on the table.  If you got a ball in the cup  of beer, the opposite team had to drink it.  And if your team got shut out, you had to streak the house.  They called the other game with the triangle of cups and throwing the ping pong ball Beiruit.  Everyone else I know called it beer pong.  What did you call it?

And does anyone remember how to play A$$hole?

Re: Beer Pong - back to your college days...

  • Oh A-hole....DH and I got re-introduced to that game a few weekends ago when we were visiting his cousins in CT.  We were not good.  However, the people we were playing with took it pretty easy on everyone else - for example, the president and VP rarely made other drink for stupid reasons...boy, I would have been in trouble!!

We played beer pong with the cups in the pyramid shape...like bowling.  If you got the ball in, the other team had to drink.  It's funny, now if we come across people playing beer pong and I play, I'm surprisingly good....

  • I never have played beer pong...gasp!  I just did not "grow up" with it...nobody I ever knew played.  Granted I did not grow up around this area so maybe that is why.  That being said...the times I have watched others play, I have only see them play with the triangle of cups.

A$$hole, I definitly remember that game...every now and then we still will play with friends.  Most of the time it is just for fun...something to do...nobody gets crazy with it.

  • We called it Beirut but we played the way that billysgirl07 described with the pyramid of cups.  And we definitely never played with paddles.

We had so many other games too, but A$$ hole was definitely a favorite with the President, VP, Vice A$$hole and A$$hole.

  • we always called it beer pong when there was 6 cups... I remember something being called Beirut at my friend's college of Mt St Mary's.  Oh I almost forgot about a$$hole... that game was fun but I was always such a poor sport when I was a$$hole

We called this Beiruit in college too.  I thought it was just a Susquehanna Univ. thing.  Where did your DH go to college?

  • I called the triangle of cups beer pong.  It's funny because at the "West Short Hardware bar", they actually had beer pong tables...LOL.  I don't know if they still do.

I have no idea how to play ass hole.  I used to be ok at it though....those were the days!

  • I have never heard of playing with a paddle.  We always played with the 10 cups in the triangle.  There is even a Beer Pong Championship in Las Vegas...2 of DH's friends want to compete in it someday.  Apparently the grand prize is $50,000!

I never really played @$$hole much...

At the Hardware Bar here in Wilkes Barre, they have a beer pong table in the Bourban Street Saloon.  (You know how they have a few bars that are all connected.)  Again never played but have watched others play.

DH went to Penn State.  They just played regular ping pong with cups of beer on the table and called it beer pong.

  • We played with cups in a pyrimid and ping-pong ball. I have never seen a paddle used. I haven't played in a long time. Last time I played was at a friends housewarming party, except we had to have water in the cups and when someone made a shot you drank from your own personal beer (one of their friends was a total germ-a-phobe and wouldn't share cups).

I was never big on A-Hole. I did enjoy flip-cup.

  • I went to Penn State and we played with the cups in the triangle and called in beer pong.  I played lots of A$$hole too.

Just out of curiosity I looked it up on Wikipedia...

  • I love A-hole and pong. Anyone remember drunk Janga and Flip cup? I kicked ass at flip cup
  • We called it Beer Pong but I've heard both. Ahole used to be my favorite game but it's been so long- I would need a refresher! Oh I miss my carefree college days!
  • We called it both beer pong and beirut. Played with the triangle formation.

Some claim it was invented at Bucknell... but then my brother who went to Lehigh claimed it was created there :)

Definitely remember how to play a$$hole!

Oh the memories, seems like longer than only 4 years ago!

Oh, battle of the Patriot League schools.  Go Lafayette!

One of my friends at Lafayette had a brother at Bucknell and a sister at Lehigh.

  • Seriously! :)

The biggest rivalry in the fam was between little brother and our cousin who went to Lafayette... they were pretty funny.

My other little brother goes to Juniata, so he escaped the cycle.

Mahantango, where are ya?! Come get on the Bucknell bandwagon!

lmao.  Was it the same guy who invented the parallel lines on roads?

I don't like beer so I never played, but I have fond memories of mixed drinks in the Gateways.

  • Both DH and I went to PSU, and we were each in a sorority/fraternity.  Perhaps needless to day, beer pong, flip cup, a-hole, Kings, case races, etc. -- they were all regular parts of life.

However some of my favorite memories were gin pong (a frater's dad challenged us all on parents' weekend -- bad news), goldfish swallowing, swirlies after THON at Pi Kap and frat tailgates.

Wow, while a lot of that looks scary to read back, we sure did have fun.
