I don't want to work 4 tens....

Swlfish vent...

It's great the Gov is getting press 'cause he wants to move us state workers to 4 tens. But I don't want ot work 4 tens. That would mean 13 hour days to make the bus commute work. Yeah, I would get 3 day weekends, but what's the point if I'm tired and grumpy for that one extra day anyways.  Plus, I already work 9 nines on flex and like that better.....

And telecommuting won't work. No way can the confidential files I use all teh time leave the office. Nevermind the IT firewall issues....

Re: I don't want to work 4 tens....

  • I think it's great...if you live in SF.  I have some clients in SF and it's hell when we have to commute up there...easily 10+ hr days.

GL with it...I don't envy you at all.

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

I don't mind the commute between SF and ABQ. I take the bus and sleep or read on the ride, so it's not like it's wasted time.  I already am gone from teh house for 11.75 hours to make my 9 hour work days.  With the bus schedules, it would become 14 hours because of the bus times and the requiremnt taht you take a 1 hr lunch on 10 hr days. And those buses would mean I can't make it home by 5:30 like I do now. So I would miss my yoga classes, niece/nehews athletic games, etc.

I just needed to vent. I think this is all a PR move. My department already allows flex schedules and we do enough field work that we aren't going to SF every day anyways.

  • I totally agree about the PR move.  It makes it even worse that you're REQUIRED to take an hr lunch.

I'm sorry.  :(  Maybe they'll realize that this isn't working and will abandon the idea.

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!
