Of saying I'll have Easter at my house with my family. It's not like we have the largest house, or are the most central location. In fact, if everyone shows up, I fear we'll be tightly crammed into our house (albeit slightly better than we would at my parents' house, or comparable or better than we would at brothers W's or M's house.) Further to fact, I doubt W or M and their families will make the attempt to come up at all (and honestly, W and M and their families are the ones I like seeing!)
But I can't stand the following thoughts:
--If we go to ILs, we?re faced with dealing with pissed off ILs because we refuse to bring the dog. (Two young cousins will be there; for Thanksgiving, their shrieking, giggling, and squealing drove Xena CRAZY? and then we busted the brats CHASING AND CORNERING HER for fun, after we?d told them NOT to chase her. She didn?t take either of their faces off when they had her in a corner, but I couldn?t have blamed her if she had!)
--A 3 hour round trip drive to W?s house, which we made for Christmas, accompanied by the fact that the dog will have to stay in her crate all day, which MIL will give us a hard time for (I can hear her already ?Drop the Baby Girl off here and I?ll take her for the day??)
--Alternatively, my mom will say she?s having Easter and we?ll all be crammed into a 10?x13? foot space cluttered with knick-knacks and pictures on every square inch of wall or tabletop space, with 5 people smoking filling the room with a haze of bluish gray. We?ll also get the ?Where?s the dog?? question, but we won?t take her there because she reacts poorly to being in a smoke-filled space where there?s no room for her to sit or lay down, and she doesn?t like my dad. And taking her outside, we get the ?just let her run? line EVERY TIME and people miss the point that if she runs, she will not stop at a boundary ? she just keeps running. And they live in the country. With woods on two sides of their 4 acres.
I could also use this as a "I'm trying to be involved in the family" example, even though I'm really only trying to do enough to fly under the radar. LOL
