Dinner in Lehigh Valley Area?

The ILs want to take us out for DH's birthday on Saturday. DH would like to putz at the wineries out towards Allentown during the day and then get a nice dinner.

I was looking around the Mertztown, Kutztown, almost Allentown area. More towards the fine dining end but jeans and a nice shirt can be worn.

With Google I came up with Blue Orchid and Inn at Maple Grove. Are either of these decent? Or is there somewhere else ya'll can think of?

TYIA!

Re: Dinner in Lehigh Valley Area?

  • My favorite place for dinner any where is in Bethlehem. Many special events were celebrated there and DH and I talk about driving 3 hours just to have a good dinner there. It's the Hanoverville Roadhouse. I love it for the food, atmosphere, and the service.

Hope you have a great time, I love that area.

  • Yeah, my suggestions are for Bethlehem, too.

Bethlehem Brew Works (brewery, but nice food) -- which also has a location in Allentown, now that I look up their Web page -- or the Apollo Grill.

I have been to both of those too and they are both yummy!

  • Mertztown?? I hate to tell you this, but I think the only restaurant in Mertztown is Snuzzles :)  Probably not quite what you're going for Wink  The Kutztown Tavern might be nice.  Also perhaps the Inn at Moselem Springs.  That's on 222 between Fleetwood and Kutztown.  I don't know a whole lot of nice places closer to Allentown, but I'm sure that the other ladies' suggestions are good!
  • I have to agree that the Hanoverville Roadhouse is THE BEST! I LOVE that place!

  • Love Apollo Grille- we've never had a bad meal there! Delish!

If you are in Bethlehem I'd also recommend Thai Thai 2 (need reservations, BYOB) or Mama Nina's.

The Brewworks in Allentown, IMO has better food than the one in Bethlehem.

  • if you want to go a bit further south to saucon valley there are some very good restaurants at the promenade shoppes at saucon valley.  i have eaten at Kome and Melt...both very very good.  there are a bunch of great restaurants there that i still want to try.  here is the link to all the restaurants they have.
  • i should add that Kome is a Japanese restaurant and Melt is considered modern twist on american italian..so so good.  you can find their menus here and here.
