"Code" in Newport - $45/pp
For dinner. No alcohol. For a friend's bday some people are coming out of town, they just sprung it on us that it would be at a place with a pre fix menu and that it's $45 pp before tax and tip. So basically, my guess is at least $65 but more like $70. With no alcohol. Reviews on Yelp said that the food was EH and drinks are pricey.
Would you go? I mean, I feel like if I don't go, I don't get to see these people, and I only get to see them a few times a year. It just seems really pricey
WWYD?
Re: "Code" in Newport - $45/pp
i am laughing because i spent a few seconds wondering what EH stood for.
i would bow out and see if i could meet them for drinks afterwards. say i had plans for earlier in the evening.
you know, lie.
ditto, wan. meet them before, after, maybe the next day for breakfast/brunch?
I would find out how solid the plans are, and if not so solid, let them know that the food is mediocre and suggest a better place?
Or lie. Lying is good in this situation

Nothing breeds faster than Crazy
At first, I scoff at the thought. But these people are worth the $45 for sure. 3 of my 4 bridesmen will be there, and I don't see them that often. I could always bring a water bottle, I spose.
I'll just cancel the spa day I scheduled for myself and it'll be a wash I guess.
Is there any particular reason why people want to go to Code?
I hate bad food even when it's free. Expensive bad food would really piss me off.
I am a jerk and would probably suggest another place or two, but I know that this is not very polite.
But, really, you'd be saving everyone from wasting money on bad food....
He put a "deposit" down already. Nonrefundable too. The only time I've heard of this policy was at Geisha house. It's weird to think of going to a restaurant that is literally in the parking lot of my work building.
