You and your husband are opening the business right?   My fiance owns his own and is looking to expand...the first time around we didn't have to do any loans or what not and this time we do.  Did you do small business loans?  He has a partner at his current business and they are expanding together....If you did get a  loan does a small business loan affect your credit just as much as a regular home? I'm looking for someone who went through the whole Small Business Loan things for advice.

TIA

Re: JohnNDeanna

  • Unfortunately, I am no help here.  We actually had a member of our family do a promisory/guarantary agreement for us and loaned us the money.  At first we were going to do a partnership with them, but they decided to let us have at it and just front the money.  It's a highly unlikely situation for most people, but so very ideal.  When it comes to finances, my H and I are completely backwards from the norm and I'm ok with it.  Sorry I wasn't any help.
  • That's ok...we aren't use to this b/c the business he currently has cost us nothing b/c his parents fronted the start up cost for him.

Good Luck with everything...this whole self employed business thing has it's good points and scary points :)  It's so scary thinking that you have to pay back X amount of money!!

  • nygirl if you have any questions or concerns about getting a small business loan you can go into any TD bank and sit at the desks and they will help you.  A lot of the CSR's are loan certified and will be able to answer most of your questions or at least find the answers for you.  You also don't need an appointment.

  • lilylow:  Thanks!  I think they were gonna deal with SUN Bank so I'll have to pick their brains. I just get nervous that sometimes they don't tell you everything
  • Just say no to Sun bank!  Don't go there.  If you go to the Pitman TD go on a weekday and ask to sit with Rachel.  She's great!  Sun bank is having a very hard financial time at the moment.
