i tested out the cookie recipe you linked (funny, i had it bookmarked already but hadn't tried it yet).
the browned butter smells so.stinking.good. but the dough is tricky. i just pulled the first pan out of the oven and have to let them cool before i test one out, but the house has the most fabulous caramel-y aroma.
cross your fingers.

Re: sasinka
ohhhh, I'm so jealousE. I've seriously been wanting to make those cookies, but my prob is I can't eat just one or 5.
maybe I'll have to break down and bake this weekend. I could make just a few and freeze the rest...ha, who am I kidding?
okay, cookie FAIL.
i read the comments in the post and i'm seeing that i'm not alone in my results. they smell a lot better than they taste, and the texture is really off - dry, crumbly, NOT like shortbread at all.
if you try it, let me know how it worked out for you.
Booooo! I had high hopes for this recipe.
?
And now I really wanna bake something before my husband comes home.?
update: i've now eaten five of these. the flavor's really grown on me.
i definitely suggest rolling the dough in raw sugar as she recommends. i didn't have any, and i think they're just lacking in sweetness.
oh, well. the hub won't like 'em anyway. [reaching for another]
