One more showing

My townhouse is showing again today.  I HOPE these people like it and will make an offer.  It's shown a few times now (one couple came back either once or twice, I can't remember, but ultimately decided not to make an offer for whatever reason).  I'm glad it's showing now but I kind of wish our furniture was IN it when it is being shown because it's so hard to imagine how pretty it is without the furniture in there!

Re: One more showing

  • Everyone is different but I actually liked looking at houses that were empty because I was able to imagine where our stuff would go and what it would look like.

It makes me feel better that you said that!  Honestly, I liked the house we bought much better the second time we looked at it because the previous owners things were out and I could think "My couch would go there and my dining room table would look like this..."  I just thought I was weird!

  • I actually agree with you two - sometimes people don't like the house because your belongings/decorating style don't match theirs.  Sometimes its just a matter of seeing it without stuff allows people to picture it.  (Also, it often looks larger without stuff in it - that was the case with our duplex.  It looked HUGE without furniture in it.)

  • That's great.  We stage our new construction homes that are for sale because sometimes it's hard to see what will fit and you can compare what we have in there to what you have.  Now if it's an older home I'd prefer there to be no furniture because then you can see all the stuff that's usually hidden.

  • It was built in 2002.  So it's not older by any means.  The pictures do have our furniture in them so maybe the people will be able to imagine it with furniture because of them.  ;)
  • Good luck! I am sending lots of house selling vibes.
