Has anyone ever broken their tailbone?

This past weekend we went to snowboarding and I think I either bruised my tailbone really really bad or broke it. Has anyone experenced this? How can I tell the difference between bruised or broken!?

 I am in pain!!!!

Re: Has anyone ever broken their tailbone?

  • I bruised mine very badly while ice skating several years ago. I was in a lot of pain and couldn't sit very long for the first 1-2 days. The pain gradually started to subside and while the surrounding muscles still felt tight, I could resume walking and sitting normally by the end of the week. I did end up going to the doctor two weeks after my fall because my wrist was still hurting, but by that point my tailbone was pretty much back to normal.

  • I don't think it matters if it's broken or bruised - not much they can do for it anyway.
  • OMG. Pastorwife, I felt just like you the past couple weeks!

I also went snowboarding 2 weekends in a row and thought I might have broken it cuz it hurt so bad, but must've just been a bad bruise cuz it is much much better. and we are going again this weekend! I love boarding. =)

    Where did you go?

  • I bruised mine in gym class dodgeball when I was in 5th grade. My one and only trip to the ER.

It was not fun, but there is nothing they can do other than pain meds and ice cream. (ok well I was little, but ice cream never hurts no matter how old you are Yes )
