Just wanted to drop a line to explain why I've been MIA and say hello. The night of the GTG I got so sick and then had to have surgery a few days later, so I was down for the count for a while. It turns out that the cyst was actually a tumor, but thank the Lord it is non-cancerous and there is only a tiny tiny chance it could ever come back. Since then my grandma brought us a little puppy (2 lb chiapoo) and I've been traveling a lot (am in DC right now, yay!) I've been itching to get on here ask a bazillion questions about puppies, puppy clothes, puppy training, spring break, books to read on a trip, plants that grow well in AL in muddy areas, how to make fried pickles, experiences with the Master Cleanse diet? and great (but affordable) destinations for a mommy/daughter weekend road trip. You name it I've thought it! Must get back to work though, am swamped. Hoping to find some vacation time after that and do nothing but eat and sleep and read for fun! Prefably on a beach somewhere with my little red hot.
Re: Hi Girls!
dang....you have been busy!
the boards have been a little slow lately anyway...i know i haven't been around as much, and i know other people haven't been around as much...so i think in general it has been a busy time for all....
Busy little bee!
Fair Warning: I wouldn't go to the Pets board w/ questions about your puppy...they might not think your designer pup is that cute. Just sayin.

heeeey girlfran!
WOW- that is awful about having surgery =( I'm glad to hear that it was benign and that you are ok!
There is a post above about master cleanse, I think Teakum asked about it??
My IL's are from the DC area!
I don't know anything about plants or road trips (although my mom, sister, and I used to go on weekend trips to Gulf Shores a lot when we were younger!)... Or how to make fried pickles =P
But for puppy stuff, when we got Bogie we bought the Puppies for Dummies journal. It had a lot of GREAT resources on house breaking and training them. Another great option is puppy kindergarten at PetSmart, but we never took Bogie to that because he's pretty obedient by nature. The one thing that has helped us more than ANYTHING ELSE has been watching Cesar Milan. If you can rent his previous seasons on DVD, do it! It gives great insight on how to best communicate with a dog and common mistakes pet owners make.
Also, since you have a grooming dog I highly recommend going ahead and taking him/her to the groomers. A lot of places have a puppy plan where all they do is clean out her ears, give her a bath, express her anal glands, etc and it's usually less expensive- but they will try to make it a REALLY positive experience so that they don't connect getting groomed with a negative one. We didn't do this with Bogie and I wish we had. He had a negative experience at a groomer (PetSmart on 280 to be exact) his second time to be groomed, and at 2.5 years of age he is just starting to warm up to the groomer we use now.
Poor little guy.
Yepp. I got crucified for accidentally posting a link to a puppy broker once. I was googling shih tzu breed specifics and a bio showed up in the results so I posted the link. The URL was something like petzone, how was I supposed to know that?
And yet they ate me alive...
Boy, you have been busy!!! Glad to see you are back. I am glad you got the cyst checked out and that everything worked out with it!!!!!!
Yay for new puppies. I think AM gave great advice above!! Good luck getting him trained and housebroken!!!
