ugh...people

So, the couple who looked at my townhouse loved it.  They loved everything about it.

Except the fact that it only has 2 bedrooms.

So, here's my thought process.  If you TRULY need 3 bedrooms, why are you even LOOKING at a place with less than 3?  And why would you call my realtor and have your realtor say to her "Well, if they could add another bedroom, we'd buy it."

Uh, if it had another bedroom, we probably would have stayed another year people!

Re: ugh...people

  • Do they think there might be a space they could turn into a 3rd bedroom?  I'm sorry, Mandy,.. that's like the 2nd couple who did that, right? Could you ask your realtor to adjust the listing to specifically state TWO BEDROOMS?! LOL
  • That is a little annoying that they insist on 3 bedrooms and are going out looking at 2 bedroom places.

  • Yea that would really annoy me, why would they even bother looking at it?
  • That was always a pet peeve of mine too.  If they need 3 bedrooms then why are they wasting your time and their time by coming to look at it...obviously you can't magically add a third bedroom.  That is annoying.
  • I also wanted to add that the strangest complaint we got as we were trying to sell our townhome was that it had too many closets.  Yep, too many closets...since when is that a bad thing?!  I think it was just a cop out answer, but why would you say it...

Sorry no such thing as too many closets! Sounds like a cop out to me!

  • Sorry, maybe they were hoping there is a room they could have used a bedroom even thought it's technically not.  I'm pretty sure there needs to be a closet to be considered a bedroom and some homes say 2 but it really could be 3.

  • That's frustrating! I'm sorry!! When we were looking at houses, if it didn't meet our criteria we didn't want to waste our time or the seller's time in even looking at it.

  • The listing does specifically say 2 bedrooms.  And lists ALL the rooms in the house!  There is technically a room that could be changed to a bedroom - it's a sunroom but it would have to be enclosedand roofed, hooked onto the heating system, etc.  We're not going to do that since we're trying to SELL it.  But, yes, this was the second couple to do that.  The first couple hadn't seen the online listing though and their realtor didn't have the MLS sheet - they drove past with their realtor and asked if they could go on.  This most recent couple did have all the info.

In good news though, they do say that this spring should be the best home buying season in years because of interest rates!

Oh and there is NO such thing as too many closets!

  • we really need a 3/4 bed room, but we've looked at two places that are listed as 2 beds, simply because most homes in new england have basements that have been converted and even though they typically can't count as "bed rooms" that's what they are. The other thing is, we've looked at stand alone single family homes that we could add an addition on to, which I suppose wouldn't fly with a town house, so it doesn't make a lot of sense that they would waste your time. I hope you find a buyer soon!
  • You know, if the house WERE a stand alone home, I wouldn't think anything of people wanting 3 bedrooms looking at it.  OR if it had a basement.  But it's just odd that people will go look at a house that isn't what they need when they know that it probably can't be changed.
