So nice outside

It was so nice outside today. DH and I went to Lowe's and got some grass seeds and fertilizer. I also got some potting soil and planted some Zinni seeds in a beautiful green color. Some elephant ears seeds, I don't know the real name. Then I planted some flower seeds that looked really pretty that I don't remember the name. I'm ready for our grass to look nice again! But it was a beautiful day!

Re: So nice outside

  • That's great!  I want to get some tulips and plant in my yard.

    Siggy coming soon....
  • It was so nice out today!  I have to dig out three of my plants that didn't come back this year, I am still trying to decide if I want to replace them.  But my lillies are coming back, and one of my hydrangeas :)  I'm excited about that because I so don't have a green thumb lol.
  • That sounds nice! You'll have to post pics once things bloom.

..I wish we had a yard.

  • My thumb is more brownish than green but...If you decide you want more of your hydrangeas for next year, whenever you prune yours later this summer or early fall or just take some clippings. Then take a pot with some rich potting soil and stick the cut end of the hydrangea "sticks" into it...they will sprout over winter and then next spring you will have free plants. We've got about thirty new plants just made from last year's clippings to share with the neighbors.
  • We worked in our yard all weekend too.  Our flower beds in the front have never been cleaned up since we moved shortly before our wedding, and then didn't have the funds to do it last summer.

It almost looks like a different house now!  We planted 7 knock-out rose bushes, some dahlias, a few marigolds (a family tradition), and then our neighbors gave us some iris and daylilies!

I just hope the iris and daylillies stand back up.  They were a little bit shocked after being moved.

  • We uncovered all the patio furniture.....put up new solar lights all around the back patio and walkway....and brought the grill out!  I am ready for a BBQ!!
