what to send for to a family for sympathy?

Elliot's step-grandmother passed away on Saturday night.  She had lived with his Uncle and his family for as long as I can remember.  What can I send to his Aunt and Uncle's house?  When Jackie (his step-grandmom) came home from the hospital (she has been sick for so long), I sent her a box of cookies from Cheryl & Co. as a thinking of you gift.  What can I send to the family now in their time of grief?  Would another box of cookies be good or should I send flowers or some other type of food basket?  Any suggestions on websites for food baskets?  Thanks!

Re: what to send for to a family for sympathy?

  • Sorry to hear about your loss. I always use 1800 flowers (www.flowers.com) They have all kinds of baskets, flowers, etc. They aren't cheap though. In the past, I've sent gift cards to the grocery store. When someone passes away there are usually a lot of visitors, so depending on the situation and my relationship with them, I like to help out with groceries. Just an idea.

  • i ended up going to a local florist who also does snack and fruit baskets.  it was so much cheaper to order from her than online!
