Ground turkey rant (Trader Joe's related)
I have been using ground turkey as a substitue for ground beef for years (I don't eat red meat) and noticed that alot of you cook with it as well so I figured I would let you know that I tried the Trader Joe's ground turkey and it was terrible. It just had a really different flavor that I didn't like and wasn't used to. I normally buy Jennie O or Perdue and I am sticking to those brands now.
Re: Ground turkey rant (Trader Joe's related)
WOOHOO - Trader Joe's isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Ugh, that sucks though... meat that's slightly off grosses me out. I'm sorry you had to experience that, Jen. We usually get Jennie-O (Perdue doesn't even sell it up here, I don't think!) But the Jennie-O 93% lean has been going on sale lately 2/$7!
I'm incredibly picky about my meat too. It drives my husband crazy (He can't figure out why I will buy pasta and canned food at Walmart but I won't buy their meat or bread).
That being said, I only buy Jennie O ground turkey but that's really because it's the only kind I can find down here.
The Costco we go to sells it too. I think it's usually 3 packages for about $11. It's a great deal.
