(Clicky poll) Home owner's association
I LIKE my HOA, they are never nit-picky about things and they get on the people who l let their weeds grow 4ft high, won't let people park cars on their lawn and make sure that Christmas lights come down.
There are houses a few blocks over in each direction and the areas look like CRAP! (I'm pro cheap and easy HOAs)

Re: (Clicky poll) Home owner's association
The people next door (immigrants from Poland-NICE people) want to get together with another Polish family they made friends with in the area and get rid of the HOA because they feel that they are taking our money each month for nothing.
I think that $58 a month is the cheapest HOA I have ever heard of, and I like that I don't have to be "the bad guy" and say anyting when crap starts looking bad.
But they want to remove the HOA.... I just can't!!!
Friends of ours bought in 2004 in North Fontana (WOW it was nice) and now 5 years later.... it looks like South Ridge! UGH!! (I grew up in Rubidoux and remember what people do to their property)
(except for that one HOA that was giving someone here a HARD time about a basketball hoop that prior owners had left- They can suck it)
I am currently pissed at my HOA. A few months ago we got a letter that a particular bush on the side of our yard was 6" too long. Then a few days ago we got a letter that we have a trash can visible from the street.
Our yard/house are always well maintained and we happened to be on vacation the week our bush grew 6" too long...but 6" really?? That's a little much to be complaining about. We had to cut it back and submit photos.
The trash can is one of those large ones that the city makes you use. They dropped them off Friday morning when they picked up our trash and we put it on the side of the house by the gate that goes into the backyard. The date of the property inspection was Saturday morning.
We have nowhere to put it without blocking our access to the gate or letting it sit in the middle of our patio where we can see it from inside the house. And thanks to all the custom storage they have in all the garages it won't fit there either with the other two trash cans and our two cars.
So we're waiting to hear back from the city if they'll come back and pick it up because we really don't need it.
First of all....holy cow..I can't believe you're already 24 weeks pg.
Second...our HOA maintains our front yards and park and keeps the area around nice. I think we have to pay a lot but I think it's worth it. And they aren't too picky like Married's HOA>
I pay $23/mo for my HOA. They can be Nazi-ish at times (making us take down a cemented in the ground basketball hoop that was up for 20 years) and other stupid stuff- but overall I'm glad we have them. Otherwise people would not mow their lawns, would have dead grass and lock-rock, and would have purple houses (don't get me wrong- I love purple, but don't need to stare at a purple blob across the street, lol!).
I think its worth it- especially for only $58.
We pay close to $250 for our condo HOA, which isn't very Nazi-ish except when it comes to parking. I'm ok with that because visitor parking is so limited and some people rather take up those spaces than park in their garages. They also have become very vigilant about people walkng their dogs and not cleaning up after them. I'm definitely ok with that too!
They have never really bothered us since we first moved in almost 2 years ago.
The satelite dish thing..... kiss my a$$!!! What a joke!!!
6" ?!?!?! That's stupid!!!
I know a guy, who's HOA says that when you mow your grass, you have to pull the mower out, shut your garage door, and then mow. WHAT?!?!
Who has the time to pester residents about stuff like that!!!
Mine sends fines to people who don't pull their weeds (ugly, and a fire problem) and those with christmas lights still up.
They also regulate parking, you can't dump a car on the street (because we are a "Lake Community" we have street sweeping every other Tuesday and you get a $50 ticket from the city anyway)
Sounds like something my HOA would say. That's what you get for $298/month.
I just think that some HOAs that I hear of (here included) are stupid! The crap that they come down on is.... well.... just stupid!
I also like that for $58 a month, I can have some protection against my neighbors(sp)
They want to have a "self regulation" team that lives in the community and tells you what to do....um....NO.
How would you like the people next door comming over and telling you to mow your lawn... they think it's too long? Or that you left your trash cans out past 5pm on trash day. GIVE ME A BREAK! UGH!!
I'm so hormonal and FRUSTRATED with this!
One of the guys came to my door and was dropping F bombs on me because I said I wouldn't sign the petition, that I was the ONLY one who doesn't like it.
If that's true, you don't need my signature...
