Buying a home before the summer time. If you have already done your taxes this year you can ammend them to receive the 8000.00 tax credit. I hope all of you ladies will take advantage of this, because who knows what the rulues will be next year.

DH found something out from our tax guy. We could file an amendment and get the $8000 right away, but we'd have to change our withholdings from now (well, when we file the amendement) to the end of the year. To avoid this, we can just wait and claim it on our 2009 tax return.
I really don't know the whole story, though, so don't take my word for it. We'll just put the money in savings, so it doesn't bother me too much not to get it right away.
What I understand about last year's $7500 versus this year's $8000 is that they're two different things. I haven't heard if they officially changed last year's so you don't have to pay it back.

We are putting ours in our savings account as well. But we want to get it this year because who knows what the rules will be next year.
