How bad is this?

So I found a place that I can drop all of my dirty laundry off at and then they clean, fluff, and fold it in one day.  So I drop off all of our dirty clothes on the way to work and then pick them up all clean and fluffy on the way home from work.  They charge by the pound.  I'm not sure how many clothes is in a pound.  I can even bring my own detergent, etc., or they supply it.  Thoughts?

Re: How bad is this?

  • In all honesty its a stupid and lazy waste of money.

  • haha. while that is a nice service, I dont mind doing my laundry once/week. I usually do it on Sundays. Plus I'm anal about my laundry - what gets dried, etc.
  • I think you'd have to do a cost-benefit analysis... A few years ago, my ILs researched it, and actually found that they SAVED money having someone else do it, but I guess it depends on the efficiency of your washer/ dryer, type of detergent, cost in utilities, etc.

  • I don't know if I'd trust other people with my clothes...especially my skivies.  If I had to use a laundry mat it might be worth it.
  • I'm way too anal about how things are washed to ever let anyone else do my laundry. And the thoughts of the possibility of using any old random laundry soap makes me feel faint. The idea of someone folding my panties, um no thanks.

So, final opinion is still the orignal one. Unless you run a complete cost/benifit analysis on it a la eb's in-laws I stand by the waste of money comment too.

  • A bunch of people in my office apparently use it and were just raving about it.  I'll have to really think about it.
  • Nat go for it, take it from a women who does laundry all the time to find a place that does it for you that would be heaven... The time you save you can enjoy your life as a married lady... Life is to short to waste it on laundry cleaning and all the things to keep your house going.  Are we all going to look back and say boy my house was clean my laundry was beatiful or say I had a wonderful life full of great moments of happiness and memories!!!!
  • I used to do this in college.  It is great.  We even had a service that would come to your apartment and pick it up and then bring it back when it was done.  My excuse then was I didn't have a washer and dryer. I say go for it!!  It really isn't that much money and would probably take a lot of your time right.
  • With my H now playing hockey three nights a week the amount of laundry we have is insane for two people.  He goes through three outfits on hockey days.  The hockey clothes are absolutely disgusting too.
