our couch stinks!

i don't know why... but our microfiber couch has gotten a bit stinky... i don't know if it's the dog (we have a 15lb min pin) or if it's DH... i bought some ferbreeze yesterday, but i'm hoping it doesn't make the couch lose it's color...

has anyone else had this problem?

Re: our couch stinks!

  • if you have a female dog, remember they spray.  and seriously, i don't care how much the vets clean their glands...they always spray something funky.

  • Yeah, it's a "she" and she is currently in heat...

I think the couch came with seperate fabric samples... so I might try the ferbreeze on that first. I bought the one for fabric... Just wanted to know if anyone has used ferbreeze on their couch (preferably a dark color like brown) before.

  • I've never used Febreeze on my microfiber furniture. I got some odor eliminator from the couch manufacturer, though. I don't have any idea what's in it, but it hasn't left any marks whatsoever. Testing the other fabric, or a spot no one sees is a good idea. Good luck!

thank you!! if by any chance it doesn't work out, i might just go to american signature (where i got the furniture) and get some of that odor eliminating stuff...

    thanks again!

  • i've used febreze on my microfiber, its brown too, and no stains.

    great news! thanks :)

  • our dogs aren't allowed on the couch, but sometimes when we leave they'll sneak up on them and lick and leave smelly spots. The best way to eliminate smelly dog funk is actually cleaning the cushions, if you febreeze it, you're just masking it. I bought this foam car upholstery cleaner, it smells great! You just spray the foam until the foam dissapates and then wipe it with a damp towel. works great ;) we too have microfiber.
