Re: ::wan::

    i haven't made them yet for the same reason, potential PITA.  but i might give it a shot since i'm out of peanut butter chips now!

  • they aren't too complicated - spoon some of the chocolate batter, make an indention with your thumb, spoon in the PB mixture and top it with a flattened piece of chocolate batter to cover the PB.

    the recipe doesn't make a ton - that's a good thing since they are a bit more time consuming. ;)

  • as much of a cookie monster as the hub is, i think he's ready to shoot me over the constant cookie baking.  he's gained a few pounds in the last couple of months :X

  • hey, is the finished product chewy?  or are these crunchy cookies?

  • [butting in]

    I've been wanting to try this recipe too, I just don't have shortening on hand. My husband loves peanut butter so I think he'll like these.?

  • they are definitely chewy.

    winnie - I'm thinking butter would be an ok sub for crisco?  I don't know though.

  • winnie - I think you'd be fine subbing for butter:

  • the shortening is the same thing that's kept me from similar recipes.  i'm thinking of buying some of that crisco in stick form, though.  if these cookies are a hit, i'll end up using it anyway, and there's also a recipe for homemade bisquick that uses it.

    yeah, i'm a dork.
