I'm reading Pledged. I can't help but think of you. Next time I see you, I'm going to ask you about a lot of the stuff in there. It's pretty interesting to a GDI like me.
Re: YL re books
Some of it was right on, but a lot of it is a pile_of_shit.
That book irritated the crap out of me because she is so obviously trying to push her own agenda. SO MUCH of the stuff she describes (binge drinking, partying, etc) are not JUST in the Greek system, they are part of the general college experience. She tries to paint is as something that happens only withing the context of sorority, and like it is such a scandal. Puh-leaze.
Let me know what you think when you are done.
ditto YL on Pledged. yet, i still found it interesting. it's always interesting to see an outsiders take on something you lived for several years.
D, you totally have to read the jessica darling series! it's really good.
I have about 2 stacks of TBR that are at least 2.5 feet high! I have to get through these before I go buying other ones!
But of course knowing me I'll go to Borders or half.com in the next few days at get some rec'd books (1 or 2). :-/
Agreed, I use to post on a fraternity/sorority message board and the author use to troll the board trying to get people to share their hazing stories with her. Not exactly the most reputable way to get your sources so I knew when the book finally came out it was going to be a piece of work.
Through most of the book she sounded like a bitter betty who got rejected by the sororities on her campus back in the day and finally felt like she could get her revenge.
