I was watching a movie on lifetime this weekend and the main characters name was Declan Fitzpatrick.  It made me think of you.  I'd never heard that name till you mentioned it and then it was the guy in the movie.  I must say that I really liked it.

    Thanks! Yes the Declan's are very few and far between here in the US. But the name is pretty common in Ireland :) I just love it!

    Can you believe we still haven't decided on a name yet!? I know what I want ;) but MH is still a little unsure.

    I know that coming up with a name will be hard for us...especially if it's a boy.  We can never agree on anything!  Besides the fact that it is so important you don't want to screw it up.  Not like you can go back and change it!

    It is tough! But I think it was actually easier for us to come up with boy names then girl names! I just have this feeling even if we can't decide on a name before he's born the right name will come to us when we finally see him :) So I'm sure the same would be true for you guys if you have difficulty coming up with names you agree on.

    I've heard of a lot of people coming up with several names and then choosing one after the baby is born.  I can see that happening to us.  Don't you wish the baby could tell you what he wanted to be named sometimes?

    HA! Wouldn't that make it easy if the baby told you what he wanted to be named! You just have to hope they don't hate you forever for picking their name. And worse case scenario they can always go with their middle names :)

    You have good taste so I don't think he will hate it.  My parents once told me that they were either going to name me Bridget or Elizabeth...so glad they went with Elizabeth.

    Thanks! :) I'm a bigger fan of Elizabeth over Bridget too...but that could be because I worked with one very ditzy Bridget and didn't think too highly of her! LOL!

    So, I know I wasn't paged but I had to say something!  It has to do with a child picking their own name.  APPARENTLY in VA you don't (or didn't - this may not be the case any more) have to pick a name for your child immediately.  They would just put on the birth certificate "Baby Girl" Last name or "Baby Boy" last name and when you chose a name, you had to petition the court to have the name legally changed on the birth certificate.  A court reporter told me how she actually DID this and LET her daughter pick her name!  In the end the girl picked something totally weird (It had Princess in it somewhere) and they call her something for short that is equally as weird.  In the kid's defense, she did pick her name when she was 5.  But how weird would that be not to have a name until you were five???

    I promise that French and I are not stupid like this other virginian she just mentioned!  How do you not have a name for your kid until they are 5?!  That is so weird.  And to let them name themselves princess?

    Wow that's nuts that they let people just put "baby boy" or "baby girl" on the birth certificate! And who in their right mind would let a 5 year old choose their own legal name. A nickname maybe...but not her name! LOL!
