Mother f&*#%! couch!

So, you guys probably remember a few months ago we bought a new couch and chair from Macy's...well they are both going back.  They look like they are 10 years old rather than 3 months.  So, I called up Macy's explaind the situation and they are refunding us 100%.  I was amazed that I didn't have to fight with them on it (great customer service).

So, although I am happy that we can replace them and get our $ back it sucks that now I have to do this furniture shopping thing again.

This leads to my question...has anyone bought furniture not from a big box type furniture store that offers an extended warranty.  Basically, I like some peices from Crate & Barrel and Room & Board but they don't offer those types of warranties that Macy's does which makes me nervous.  Any experiences?

Re: Mother f&*#%! couch!

  • Oh no! That really sucks...but I'm glad to hear Macy's is refunding your money 100%.

I don't have any experience with couches or chairs from anywhere but big box places. Sorry!

  • That stinks! I'm sorry.  At least they are refunding the money 100%.  I have only bought from big box places.  We bought some things from Macys, but 85% of our house came from a furniture store in North Carolina (they sell all the name brands).  My friend bought a couch from Crate & Barrell a couple of years ago and had a difficult time with their customer service when she had a problem with it (It was unraveling on one side).

  • I always buy from the local furniture stores around here.  They have great warranty programs.  For example, for the life of my table and chairs, if the upholstry on the chairs rips or a roller comes off the bottom, they are replaced for free!

    SO, I'm no help....

  • I think the way to go is only if they offer an extended warranty.  We have used ours in the past for pretty much all of our other furniture.
