Sunburn

Okay so DH and I went out with the IL's on their boat last saturday and I got super burnt and now I am peeling really bad. What is the best thing to moisturize with? P.S. We are going back out this weekend.

Re: Sunburn

  • Aloe is very good for sunburn.  Aveeno has some great moisterizers, and I'm sure they make some for suncare.

Don't forget to lather up w/ sunscreen and reapply when going back out!  That can be very dangerous.

  • Ouch! Aloe is probably the best thing. In addition to applying (and reapplying) sunscreen this weekend, you might want to consider covering up with some lightweight clothing. :(
  • I'm with the other girls, ALOE is going to be your best bet -- especially if you can find an aloe plant instead of the creams. It's very soothing and takes that burning feeling away. Remember to use a good SPF (and reapply) the next you go out :)

Hope you get some relief soon!

  • I have aloe plants in front of my house, I did finally get the soreness to go away but I don't want to look all scaly this weekend. will it soften up my skin too? I guess I could just put  sunblock on as lotion for now. I got a bottle of SPF 45 the other day that I'm going to put on Saturday when we go.
  • I would go with the Aloe and drink a lot of water! I read somewhere that if the sunburn is really bad you should also take an asprin or something.

When you go back out, use the strongest sunblock you can get and coverup! Big hat, glasses and stay in the shade.

  • Get a towel and soak it in a bucket of vinegar mixed with ice and water. Place that towel over your sun burnt areas...immediate relief!! once dried apply aloe. You'll smell weird, but at least the burning feeling will disappear. lol
