Ugh - MH

So, MH has decided that he is going to be in charge of cleaning the bathrooms.  Which is great for me - I HATE cleaning toilets.  Yesterday I walked into the half bath to put some tp in the basket and saw a weird greenish colored stain on the floor and asked what it was.  MH said "Oh, I think that's where some of the toilet bowl cleaner leaked out of the bottle."  And he didn't think to either a) wipe it up or b) tell me so I could wipe it up!  So I go grab some Murphy's Oil (did I mention we have hardwood floors in that bathroom?) and a towel and try to get it up but..nope, it's stained.

When I asked how long it had been there (I never use that bathroom) he said "Oh, I think I saw it last week..."  Apparently the thought that cleaning bathrooms ALSO includes cleaning floors in the bathrooms is beyond him...

Re: Ugh - MH

  • I would be pissed too! How could he see it there and not clean it up?

  • I have NO idea.  It's so weird - when he was in the military EVERYTHING was spotless.  And now it's like "oh well...no big deal..."  We spent FAR too much money on this house to let little things like that happen (because let's face it, little things lead to big things)...And he's so worried about cleaning the roof (there IS a stain but it's not that bad) yet he'll let our hardwood floors turn greenish blue.
  • Typical male...well now you know Mandy. When he offers to clean the bathrooms he clearly doesn't mean the floor.

  • I would be so upset too Mandy.  Blair does things like that too and I finally told him not to do anything anymore because if he is going to do it halfway and not clean up completely after himself then it isn't worth because I still need to clean up after him.  Maybe the cleaning and organizing board has a tip for getting stains out of hard wood.  We use the Murphy's too on our floors but I don't think it gets out stains.  Let me know though if you are able to get it out.  I would love to have that in the back of my head.

  • I'll let you know if I come up with anything!

In better news, when I got home for lunch I walk in and I am AMAZED.  He vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned our bedroom and bathroom (the sinks, mirrors, bathtub and shower), mopped, etc.  I think he knows how upset I was and so he tried to make up for it.  I'll definitely take that.  Now I don't have to spend all morning tomorrow doing it!

  • Awww.....that was sweet of him.  :)

  • Yay for YH trying to make up for what he did. It doesn't get rid of the stain on the floor but I guess he at least realizes he messed up.

  • Exactly - he knows he did something wrong so at least he's taking responsibility for it (and helping me out).  I'm so ready to go home.
  • I say go home then! I'm getting ready to leave because it's been absolutely dead here at work today.
