Do any of you know anyone or anyplace that sells hand-made picnic tables in the York area?
I'd really prefer not to buy the made-in-china version at Lowes, and my family always purchased our picnic tables from local woodworkers who made tables on the side in the warmer months to make a little extra cash.
I'd love to do the same thing here...the problem is where to find them?
Re: Picnic Tables in York?
Yay for opting to go local! The only place I can think of off the top of my head is the Markets at Shrewsbury. You could also check out the classifieds in the paper or maybe at YDR.com.
Don't get me started about wood furniture and China. I don't think people realize that most wood case furniture in local stores is made in China. Not only does it need to be transported across the world, it also is made in a country that is an environmental nightmare.
Good idea about the markets at shrewsbury...i almost never go down there because of the traffic, but it might be worth a shot.
We passed a place near Dillsburg yesterday on our way home from Pittsburgh that had them, but he wanted $130 and I felt like that was a little steep...wondered if I could find someplace else.
I checked Craigslist -- no luck. I'll check YDR and maybe the local merchandisers and community couriers.
Good call on Morningstar -- its right down the road from me, but I never go (I go in to Central Market instead)
We'll check that one this weekend!
