LG Frontload Steam W/D

Anyone have this W/D set?  What are your thoughts?  Any problems?

It's the only Frontload W/D that will fit in our laundry closet.  DH and I were looking at them at Home Depot this weekend and a couple was adamant about us not getting anything LG.  They said the repair services and warranty are terrible. I guess their steel drum went out twice, but they didn't have the steam option model.

Re: LG Frontload Steam W/D

  • I've had this model for about 3-4 years now and never had any issues with it.  I have used the steam setting maybe 3 times so it was not worth the extra money at all..something you may want to consider.  I would reccommend this set.  I love the sanitary setting and there is one for baby clothes too.

  • This is the set we have and we haven't had any problems with it.  We've had it almost 2 years.

If your washer/dryer is housed in the closet you may want to rething getting a front loader.  Since the seal on the door is airtight you have to leave the door open to let it dry or you will get a moldy smell.  I don't know what your set up is, but that might be difficult.

  • Thanks ladies.  Joy - I did know about leaving the door open after using the washer.  One of the sales guys said you can wipe it down to get the same dry result.  Do you think that will prevent the moldy smell too?
  • It might.  I admit I'm too lazy to do that.  I just leave it open.  Stick out tongue  Do you have enough space to prop it open?  If it were me, I would be tempted to put a rag or something in the door so it doesn't swing all the way closed.
  • We were at an appliances and furniture market last month. Every single dealer we talked with said to stay away from LG washer and dryers. They said they have the highest return and the front seals have a lot of problems. We were told if we wanted to go with a front loader to go with Maytag or Electrolux (but only the new versions). I trust their advice as most of these guys have been in the appliance business over 20 years.
  • We got our washer and dryer after reading consumer reports.  The washer was the highest rated one and the dryer, while not the top, was also highly rated.
  • I have heard bad things about these as well. ?The most notable that you have to wipe the appliance down after each use to prevent it from molding. ?That (IMO) sounds like a royal pain in the ass.
