what color are your appliances?

We are thinking of getting a new refrigerator because ours is 12+ years old and probably not very energy efficient.  I like the look of stainless but then it won't match our dishwasher, stove, and microwave which are white (more of a creamy white, not white white).

Where did you get your refrigerator?  If you replaced an old one did you notice a difference in your electric bill?

Re: what color are your appliances?

  • We have 2 white appliances and 2 SS appliances.  We haven't replaced our fridge yet but we plan to eventually.  I would say you might see a slight change in your electric bill given the age difference.

It sounds like your appliances are bisque or almond depending on the manufacturer for the specific name.  If you don't plan to eventually replace all with SS then you could just order a new fridge in almond or bisque to match your existing stuff.

We got our 2 new appliances from Best Buy and had no complaints at all.  The salesperson was very helpful and the delivery process was very smooth.  They actually arrived slightly earlier than they said they would.

  • Our appliances are white, all bought at the same time to replace the avacado green appliances that came w/ the house, nice!  I personally like white appliances with my second choice being black.  Not a huge fan of SS, but in the right kitchen I liked them.

I think buying a new refrigerator will help w/ your electric bill...older models can work harder to maintain a certain level of coolness.  My in-laws replaced an ancient refrigerator at their lake house last year and have seen a decent decrease in their bill, not HUGE, but then again every little bit helps.  I hope you can find something to match your other appliances!

ETA: we bought all our appliances at Lowe's and were pleased.

  • all of our appliances are black and we got them from a local appliance shop.

i am not sure if we noticed any difference in our electric bill...sorry, i am no help here.

  • Our appliances are SS.  They are tough to keep looking great, but I love the look of them.   We bought our home new and they were all brand new, so I can't help with the electric bill part.

  • Ours are all black.  We opted for that color during the remodel since we knew kids were in the future, and I thought black would hide the handprints and dirt well (it does!)  We got them from an appliance store in Mechanicsburg.  I can't think of the name, but they only sell appliances, and it's on Trindle Road.

As for the electric bill, I'm no help there either since our electric bill went up after the remodel...mostly since we added all those recessed lights and a dishwasher.  I'd think you probably save a tiny bit with a more efficient model...maybe a couple of bucks a month.

  • Ours are bisque.  I just got a new refrigerator last year and Sears and I'm happy with it.  That's where we just bought our dishwasher a few weeks ago as well.  If you have a credit card there they always have good deals on discounts and financing and their prices were lower than Best Buy.

I didn't notice a change in our electric bill but I didn't really pay attention.  If it did go down it wasn't by too much and our old one was about 12 years old as well.

  • Our appliances are almond. We plan on replacing them one by one with SS. This is on the bottom of our "To-do" list along with getting new garage door, storm door, refinishing the sidewalk.....

In other words, we will probably have these old appliances until they die or we move!

    Have fun shopping!

  • Ours are black and I love that they don't show  fingerprints, etc.  Have fun shopping!
