Holy texting

My sister got my 13 year old niece a cell phone for Christmas.  Thank goodness she had the foresight to get unlimited texting.  She told me that last month the kid sent and received 2,640 messages?!?!?!?!  I don't even know how that is possible!   And to think I just upped my plan to get 200 a month for $5.00......

Re: Holy texting

  • Wow!! That is over 80 texts a day!  These kids and their texting. I know my nephew is constantly doing it and I learned I get a better response from him if I text him instead of calling.
  • Holy crap...that is insane!!
  • Wow!  That's crazy!  My younger sister is a big texter, as is my one SIL.  They'd much rather text you then call you, which annoys me at times.  I think after texting back and forth w/ someone there comes a point where it makes more sense to just call the person!  Much more effective, imo.  I do see the good in it though to send a quick message when you're not able to be on the phone, but to carry on a conversation in message for like that? - it's a bit strange.  I'm the worst at texting, it takes me forever to "type" a message.
  • wow...that's unreal.  i do like texting for quick conversations though but I don't send that many each day.
  • Considering some kids use it like I used instant messaging when I was in school I'm not really surprised.  I will admit I'm guilty of carrying on conversations via text messaging.  Usually its easier than a phone call for me if I'm at work (if I don't want others in my office hearing my phone conversation) and the other person isn't on IM or can't email.
  • I don't want to know how many IMs I send in a month!  Now I can see how kids rack up that many if they use that instead.
  • It takes me forever to send a text.  I'd never be able to keep up if that were my means of communication.
