Re: Happy Easter!
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
Happy late Easter!
Congrats on the 9 miler! I'm starting from scratch again, and I'm not happy about it. And I'm already dropping Jemez Mtn next year...Mike got that week off work and he's insisting on going somewhere for our anni (it'll be May 19)...I just HAVE to let him take me on another vacation.

So tough with all those vacations
You can always do the Caldera marathon in June next year. How is your knee doing?
My knee seems ok so far, but it wasn't happy on the track tonight. It looks like running in circles will be out for me...not that I'm complaining.
I decided to defer NYC if I get in (too busy at work that time of year) and just run Duke City so I can get something in this year. Mike got a week of in January so we'll most like go out to FL for the Disney World races and then he got a week of in May - totally unexpected since he has to bid for time off and is pretty low on the totem poll. He agreed to hold off on the anni trip till after the JMTR but I know I wouldn't be any fun that week...I was going to do the 50k. I'm bummed...I was really looking forward to an ultra next year. Oh well...I made a deal that if I pass the exam by the end of this year I get to train for a half Ironman next year. Cross your fingers...it's unlikely.

Happy Easter! I've been MIA because my niece (who is 3 months older than me) had a stroke 2.5 weeks ago. So life got pretty scary and stressful around here. She's home from UNMH and really seems to be doing well.
But I feel very unconnected right now...
Duff - What did you do to your knee? How was teh Duke City time?
Flame I'm sorry to hear that! That is good that she has been able to go home though. I hope she finishes recovering quickly.
Duff, good luck with whatever you have time for, and good luck on yor exams so you can do a big race next year.
Flame, I'm sorry to hear about your niece. I'm glad she's doing better now, but I hope she continues to feel better. I'll keep her in my thoughts...keep us updated.
It turns out I sprained two hamstrings in my left leg late last year by overtraining after my marathon....but it hurt in my left knee so it took until mid-February to figure out what was wrong. I was completely out for two months...biking and swimming hurt too. By the time we figured out what was wrong and I was able to get back into things I was in full-blow tax season at work and sitting for the exam again, so I haven't seriously worked out since my race (October). I have a triathlon next month that I'm not prepared for, but I'm going to do it anyway. Duke City will be in October so I'm making that my goal marathon for this year...we'll see if I can make it.

I'll keep you posted. Right now, we're waiting to see what the neurologist says at her appointment this week. The scary thing is that she had seizures as a side effect of teh stroke. Right now, she has to have an adult around 24/7. So me & Nikhil and my sister/BIL have been pulling a lot of adult-sitting duties. Luckly, I have tons of sick leave to burn through....
Duff, that injury sounds painful. Good luck gettign back into training!
