Interesting Nutrition Article

Talks about Nutrition Deficit Disorder - the theory is that kids who have some behavioral issues and display many of the symptoms of ADD are actually just under nourished and don't get the 'right' foods.

this totally makes sense to me - WDYT?

Re: Interesting Nutrition Article

  • A friend said she noticed behavior changes (for the better) in her child when they eliminated HFCS.  Yes

  • Great article. I did a research paper on ADHD and I found similar results..especially about the Omega3.
  • I wouldn't be surprised if that is true! When they say gluten free diets show improvements in children with Autism, and eating proper things can improve allergies, i wouldn't be surprised to see certain kids (such as ADD) improve when their diets are changed for the better. i know of friends kids to eat nothing but crap all day- pop tarts for breakfast, chicken nuggets and fries for lunch, pizza for dinner....WHERE is the nutrition in that? I don't see how kids who eat like that can even develop properly!

  • I totally agree with that article. While I am not saying ADHD doesn't exist (I have seen it first hand in a few kids over my 9 years of teaching) I think it is overdiagnosed, and I think simple changes like diet would make a big difference in some kids. The same ones who bounce off the walls at times are the same ones who eat chicken nuggets, chips and a coke 3 meals a day. Maybe this is why Japanese kids are so smart too- they eat lots of fish here to get those omega-3's!
