I will be packing our suitcases, checking lists, checking and re-checking that we have our documents, purchasing traveler's checks and jumping up and own with excitement that we will be leaving for Greece the very next day.
DH and I have never traveled together (more than a couple hour road trip). We do well together in the car. I'm so wondering how this much longer process will go. I LOVE to travel. I love flying, people watching in the airports, navigating transportation, experiencing the local haunts and non-tourist sides of new places. All of it. Hoping that will extend to him as well!
Any tips from my fellow newlyweds who have already honeymooned?
(I also blogged about some of my thoughts around this trip if you care to look)
Re: PSA: 1 month from today...
just enjoy yourself and have fun! Be happy you aren't flying south west so you will actually have seats together! (on our way back from Florida we didn't check in the night before because we were in Epcot! so it turned out we were the last group boarding and its open seating, so yeah, we were 6 rows apart both squished into middle seats!?
?I would suggest packing a few days ahead of time, to give yourself a lot of time to not forget things.?
if you have a laptop bring it and your camera cord to download photos before bed each night, or else bring extra memory cards. (we downloaded our pics each night and DH still needed an extra card since he mostly took video!) also bring extra batteries, the lithium ones are great!
tell everyone that it is ?your honeymoon.(disney makes it easy by giving you a pin to wear that says "just married" ) you might get freebies (we got to ride alone on splash mountain so we could get a pic with just the 2 of us, and then the girl gave it to us for free. we also got free champagne with our dinner at one of the restaurants)

Jen, that is sooooo exciting! When you get back I will want recommendations on places to go, since Greece is high up on my list of places that I want to travel.
I think you should just have fun and enjoy each other. That's what a honeymoon is all about. Well, maybe just not that
But just have a good time and don't let any minor setbacks (because there will definitely be those) keep you from having fun. And take lots of photos. And try to get some antibiotics from your doctor. I got a bacterial infection on my HM and it would have been nice to not have to mess around with finding someone to write me a prescription.
oh and yeah to what Carrie said about travel games?
we did Mad Libs on the airplane. So much fun!?
Thanks Carrie...we love Scrabble, too and I haven't picked up the travel version yet. Great suggestion about the seats!
I didn't know that you had lived in London. So did I (many moons ago)!. Whereabouts did you live? My apartment was just off Regent Street on Lisson Grove, right near the Marylebone tube stop.

You all are terrific...thank you for the tips!
About the photos...I will most likely return with at least a thousand. My Nikon and I are never separated when I travel. I took about 800 pics in Isreal last year and was only gone for one week (and it was a business trip!). Hey, it's free to take digital pics, so you might as well keep shooting and tease them out later, right?

Jen - I am SO beyond excited for you. I agree that all aspects of traveling are wonderful. If you take things in stride and don't stress, even the flying and people watching are fun as you said. DH and I both love to read on planes, but I guess it doesn't provide much "togetherness." However, I would still bring books and extra batteries for the camera.
I'll be thinking on what other HM packing items and tips I have for you in the next month. May I ask, how did you both manage to finagle 3 weeks off from work??? (maybe I can manage that sometime in the future too:)
Have an amazing time!!
Are you going to travel within Greece? The only advice I would have if you do is to try to limit your luggage. I'm sure it's hard since you'll be gone for an extended period of time. When we went for oour HM we traveled by train, metro, etc. and carrying around large bags was not easy.
Also, extra memory cards or bringing a laptop to download pictures is also a good idea. I ran out of room on my memory card too and it was good to be able to download them and clear up the card so I didn't lose the pictures. Oh, and don't forget adapter plugs (3 prong and 2 prong depending on what you are bringing over)!
Jen you will have such a good time in Greece. It is such a beautiful and unique place, you will not want to come home. I?ve been to Athens, Corfu and Mykonos. I would just say to pack light because you don?t want to be lugging a ton around and you need room for all the souveniers. The greek people are so friendly and the food is amazing!
I hould have clarified our plans, I guess
Luckily, we have no need to pack light. DH's uncle will pick us up from the airport and we will be staying in DH's house (mine too now, I guess?) on the coast. Plenty of room for loads of bags (and, we'll be bringing one suitcase just full of gifts for his family). We plan on each having a smaller "stewardess" carry-on so that we can pack those for shorter trips that we may take. He has adaptors in the house already, as well as a hairdryer and everything else you'd normally need on a day-to-day basis.
The laptop is a good idea. I don't know if DH will be willing to bring his. If not, I have enough memory cards to hold about 2,500 photos and will likely pick up a couple more before we go, just in case.
Lisa - I get 5 weeks vacation a year, plus had 4 weeks carried over from last year so, HR was going to force me to take three weeks anyway! DH has worked for nearly two years straight at his job without taking a single vacation day so, he accumulated his time and made a pitch to the president of the company about needing this honeymoon. Thankfully, they ok'ed it.
