*Dr. Renea and Megan**

Ladies - after realizing that I have a newly employeed make-up expert and a soon to be Dr. on this board, I decided you guys should be able to answer this for me.

So, I have this icky "thing" on my cheek (of my faceSmile). Anyhow, my Doc told me it's a hemangeoma, can't spell it. Basically a non-cancerous blood fed mole. They cut it out once, but it's coming back. Yay. I now finally have a referal to the dermatologist, but not until July 1st. Grr. I guess she needs to cut it out deeper and actually do stiches or something.

Renea, do you know anything about these fun moles? Megan, what is a good foundation or concealer to cover this bad boy up? I haven't really worried about it, but now that's I'm starting my new job I figure fresh make-up is in order. (at my old job I really just didn't care.) I've never really worn "good" make-up - just cover girl and such. Suggestions? As Renea said, I WISH I lived near Houston and could come visit you at Macy's.

  • lol your funny.  Well tonight is my first night on the job, so I haven't really learned anything but I can speak to you from my experience and what I use.

I use a concealer (Estee Lauder) and I'll have to think of the name of it.  I can't remember if you want to go a shade darker or lighter or either with a concealer.  Anyways, you also want to put the concealer on top of your foundation cause if you put it on underneath it really loses its purpose as far as covering up blemishes and what not. I use a concealer brush, this isn't necessary but it helps with blending it in, I think.  When I learn some more about covering up stuff, I'll definitely let you know!!! Smile

  • Hmmm...there are a few areas of medicine to which we don't get a ton of exposure as med students, and dematology is one of them.  My limited knowledge of benign hemangiomas includes that they often involute (or go away) by puberty, and otherwise they can be treated with chemotherapeutic agents or surgery.  The fact that it still came back likely means that it was incompletely excised, though I don't know why it would continue to proliferate.  Sorry I can't be of more help right now!  I will do some reading/ask around and see if I can come up with anything more helpful
