Drum Roll please...........
~The Nestie Exercise Challenge for February 2009 Knotties~
Step 1) Find, Borrow or Buy a Pedometer. I thought these were a major expense, but according to our own Alexis, she has an Omron pedometer that cost a mere $20. She seems pleased with its accuracy too. I wanted to do some more research before I buy, but I figure if we all start doing research we can help each other.
Step 2) Chart your steps every day. Keep a log in written form, excel, or whatever. You can also note any other exercise, healthy eating breakthroughs or things you want to share.
Setp 3) Set a goal for yourself for steps each day. I hear 10,000 is good, but be realistic. If you find you're only doing 2,000 now, try for 3,000 and work your way up.
Step 4) Participate in check-in day. I was thinking each hump day (Wednesday) I would create a post for checking in. That way, if people are away for a long weekend they should still be around for check-in. We can give advice and support all week long, but this just makes sure it happens at least once a week.
My first goal is for everyone who is interested to get a pedometer by April 22, next Wednesday. Then, we can have our first check in on April 29th.
What do you guys think? Ideas or suggestions to make it more fun? I'd like to have incentives or prizes but our geographic distance from each other might make that hard. I know I NEED this, as my only time to exercise is if I get up early, because I'm generally not home until 9 at night. This morning I thought about getting out of bed 1/2 hour early, BUT I didn't. So... I need some support and it sounds like many of you feel the same. Please post any and all ideas (whether wacky, crazy or just plain fun.)
Re: Introducing the Nestie Walking Challenge for Feb 09 Knotties:)
Count me in...this sounds great and is something (other than the check-ins) that I'll even be able to do on our honeymoon!
Wednesdays sound perfect and I can definitely pick up a pedometer by next week.
Lisa, thank you for organizing this. Near or far, it's great to have partners and support.

Sounds good! I actually already have a pedometer from a class I had to take. It is not very top of the line, but it will work for now until I can get my hands on a newer one. I need this so bad, it will urge me to get up a little more.
Sweet!! DH just told me he has a pedometer that I can use. YAY!
I'm so in!?
Count me in too ladies. Just the motivation I needed to get off my butt and get some exercise. Can't wait!!!!!
Yay! I am gonna do it too! Can't wait!
Thanks!
I'm late on this one but just wanted to say I'm in too! Gotta grab a pedometer this weekend.
