The Grocery Game

I just started doing this a couple weeks ago... anyone else doing this? I am totally hooked on it!

Re: The Grocery Game

  • I've been doing it for over a year.  I'm not too good about it though & it's a pain in the butt to cut all the coupons.

  • I know! I have coupons galore and it takes forever to cut them out! I am just shopping for my husband and I but the last two times I have gone shopping I have saved $35 off my $100 bill so I think it's worth it. But I am not really doing the stockpiling like some people on those message boards. I have no idea how they save 70%, or where they have the room to store all the items - I must not be doing it as well as them at the game, but I am happy saving anything.
  • I do it! You'll start to save more the more coupons you get. 2 weeks ago I spent $70 and saved $175. This week I spent $130 and saved $190. I spent more this week than normal because my list stores had some great sales on meat and breakfast foods. Now I'm just hoping that my coupons that I bought on ebay come in by Tuesday so I can go and stock up on my free steam veggies!

  • I do it too! ?:o) ?I really like it, a lot. ?I've only been doing it about 6 weeks though, so I'm still building up my coupon stash.

  • Not sure if it would work for you but you could try filing the whole coupon insert and then cutting out what you need when you get your list.  Your list should tell you what insert the coupon is in. I just became overwhelmed cutting out EVERY single coupon in the paper so I started filing.  So far it's working out pretty well for me.

  • That is great! I am hoping to get the big savings soon. So far it's only been like $30 - $40 per trip but I am only spending about $60 so that's not too shabby. I am trying to eat healthy too.so I try not to stock up on junk food. But there are so many great deals on junk food that I just HAVE to buy some!
  • If you go to www.frugalcouponliving.com, the writer is VERY GOOD about helping you match up your coupons to the latest sales.  It helps me make my lists and gather my coupons before I walk out the door which is so nice.

And, no, it's not my blog, lol.  Just passing along the info.... I was able to get $60 worth of stuff at Walgreens a few weeks ago for $10.  The teenaged cashier was shocked!
