Did anyone watch? MH and I did because Miss WV was from near where MIL lives. Anyway, apparently this was the most controversial part:

I listened to her answer and I don't know why people are so upset. She was asked what she believed and she answered honestly. I was more disturbed by Miss Arizona (I think that was her) who said, in response to whether we should have universal health care, that it was about integrity and didn't even give her opinion about health care!
Re: Miss USA
I have a real problem with Perez Hilton being the judge. LOL
So she doesn't feel we should have same-sex marriage. Guess what? She's in the majority according to the voting records in our nation and even her own state (Prop 8 overturned same-sex marriage in CA, didn't it?)
The guy that said "I think it's ridiculous that she got first runner-up. That is not the value of 95 percent of the people in this audience. Look around this audience and tell me how many gay men there are." Someone want to shake him and point out that the audience of a PAGENT doesn't necessarily represent the entire US... or even the majority of the state of California.
Give the girl a break - it's an opinion question! It's not like she made a huge boo-boo like the one contestant (was it last year)? "US Americans"
Exactly - it was her opinion. You can agree or disagree but you can't make her have the same opinion as you (you in general, not you as in Paula). And I'm pretty certain that the majority of pageant goers ARE women and gay men. But that doesn't mean she should change her opinion because of that.
And I agree - why is Perez Hilton a judge???
I just first want to say that I have never been able to stand Perez Hilton.
I agree with both of you. It is her opinion. And Paula, I agree with you 100% on all of your points.
I feel bad for the poor girl because she thinks she lost the crown because of her answer. And just because the judge is gay and she doesn't approve of gay marriage doesn't mean he should not vote her for the crown.
And it really pisses me off that Perez is claiming if she can have her opinion then so can he. Well he's taking his opinion way too far!
