Recipe help! Wonton wrappers....

what to do with them. Yeah so I got this hairbrained idea to pick them up at the grocery store last time I was there b/c I wanted to make something with them and now that I have them, I don't know what to make.

Anyone have any good recipes?

Re: Recipe help! Wonton wrappers....

  • Fry them up with nutella inside. It's a Giada DeLaurentis recipe. Sooo yummy!

That's all I've ever done with them so I'm not much help.

  • Oh, they can be used for so much. I don't have any recipes on hand, but they are really good to use to make ravioli. I made crab wontons a few years ago for DH's bday--mix up some cream cheese and imitation crab, brush the edges with water, seal and deep fry. There are  few different ways to close them up.

And DK's idea sounds super yummy--going to have to try that one!

There's a recipe on my blog (link below) for Mexican Wontons.  They are SO yummy!  I also make Asian dumplings using wonton wrappers, but they are more time intensive.

  • I've used them for a bunch of things!

-Make a mixture of ricotta, mozzerella, parm, and seasonings, fold in half and boil to make ravioli

-Fill with bbq pulled pork and fold them like a dumpling. Bake (or fry!) until crispy.

-Chop apples and mix with cinnamon sugar. Brush the wontons with butter, fill with apples, fold over, and bake (or fry!) for apple dumplings.

  • Yummy! The pulled pork and Mexican wontons options sound really good. I know I could make Crab Rangoons but I don't care much for crab.
  • I was going to say to check out Kristin's blog too because I saw the recipe for the Mexican wontons last week and they sound really good. I have a similar recipe somewhere that is amazing, but truly it is very similar to the one Kristin posted so I bet those are super yummy!
  • Where did you find the Wonton Wrappers? I never seem to find them.

Ha! Ditto this because I actually needed these for the recipe I mentioned and couldn't find them anywhere. I actually used mini-phyllo cups instead and they worked perfectly, but the wonton wrappers give it a lighter feel which I like better.
  • Ditto produce section. They're usually with the bagged salad or in the small organics cold section on the wall (where the jarred salad dressings, etc are).

Even my ghetto Kroger in Arlington had them before I moved! And if you don't use them all, they freeze well.

Ha! Well that is good to know they are in the produce section. I always look for them on the Asian influenced isle. Yes

  • We place a piece of deli salami on top of a wonton then roll it up like a taquito. Place a toothpick thri it to make it stay together. Bake the rolls at 400 for about 15 minutes or until golden. These are great appetizers!
