Hi Ladies! Sorry I wasn't around today... I was doing various errands on my free day before I start my new job tomorrow. Because it will be my 1st day, I have no idea if I'll make it to the knot. So, I wanted to remind anyone who wants to get your pedometer/step counter and start recording those steps!! I finally bought mine today. I just got a cheap one, but it's very small so I can wear it under clothes easily. I just figure if I stick with it maybe I'll invest in something more high tech. What types does everyone have that's gotten one?
For ease of talking about it, I think I'll just refer to our walking challenge as the wc. If that also stands for something else that I am forgetting about let me know and we'll change it.
Have a great day everyone!!!
Re: The Walking Challenge (The WC)
So happy we are doing this!
WC is fine with me (in England WC refers to Water closet or, bathroom..LOL!)
I picked up my pedometer at the end of last week and started using it today, just doing my normal stuff, to get a baseline. Right now, as of 9:30 pm, I'm at 3475 steps. Yikes! When I'm not training, my job is very sedentary and that number proves it. This means I need to make a true concerted effort to got to that 10,000 step a day goal.
Brand: Sportline, Mini Digital pocket Pedometer at Target, $23.99. It's only about 1/4" thick so, it's not even visible in my pocket. It also has an open loop on the top, so you can attach a lanyard, ribbon or something to anchor it to clothing if need be. I like that it is a clock and calculates steps, distance and calories.
Lisa...best wishes for your first day tomorrow. So excited for you!

Hmmm I haven't bought one but I'm really interested to try this out. On the days I work, I stay pretty active.
Lisa- GL with your first day at the new job!
WC for walk challenge is good to me. BTW, in my line of work, WC= wheelchair.
I'll get in on this! I've always been interested to see exactly how many steps I take in a day, so this can be fun. It's on my list of things I want to know along with how much my blood alcohol goes up after each drink and how much my blood sugar goes up with meals
Renea, your funny, I've actually always wanted to know how much my blood alky level went up with each drink too
So glad to hear that, Lisa! You'll leasrn the ropes and find your groove. They say it takes a full six months to really settle in to a new position, don't rush it.
As for me...at 7:20 pm I have walked 9,013 steps today!!! Huge whopping improvement over yesterday. I still need to make dinner and plan on dancing around the kitchen to my iPod while I cook. Might just finish over 10K today!
