NOOSH and everyone else too!

Just wanted to let you know that we just got an alarm and I feel 100% more comfortable. It was only $99 to install and then $40 a month for the fancy "voice" alarm system. When the alarm goes off ADT comes over the little loud speaker thing and asks if everything is ok, if you respond yes they ask your name and security password, they can hear whats going on inside your house if the alarm goes off. They also gave us 2 remote controls for our key chains so you can set, unset the alarm when you leave/come home. It also lowers your home owners/renters insurance. :-) Just thought I'd share! OH--and something interesting is that if you get broken into and they steal anything the alarm company will pay your insurance deductable. I LOVE that I have it, especially with the girls!

  • H and I have been considering this for a long time. I thought we were looking at $30/month for basic. I am excited to hear that its only $40 for fancy. :)
  • We have one and I love it!  We pay about $30/month for just the basic, though ADT.  We just turned on the door chimes now that Sarah is walking, we'll know when she opens the door to go out and take a stroll!  :-)

  • Thanks for the info, I need to talk to H about this because he's trying to turn our place into Fort Knox by himself. Before we go to bed and before he leaves for work he goes through the house closing blinds and locking all the windows. It's getting annoying because he gets up 1.5 hr before me and I get so hot without the window open. Guess he's afraid I'll forget to lock up before I leave.
  • H does that everyday anyway. ::rolls eyes::

He once got mad at me because I left the kitchen window downstairs open and went upstairs to take a shower. He insists on closing all windows when we leave even if we are just going to the park. Oh, and the latest...he doesn't like me leaving Mary's window open at night.when we are home.

  • Man I must admit I've showered with the garage door open which I know is really dumb but our area has been (for the most part) pretty safe. We've accidentally left our garage door open all night or for a few hrs when we've left the house and nothing's happened. Although we probably wont be doing that now....
  • Thanks Tif. I knew it was pretty inexpensive, but not THIS inexpensive!
  • H is also pretty paranoid and locks and re-checks all doors and windows all the time. I think when we finally buy a house an alarm system would be necessary so hopefully H can relax.
